WearepleasedtoinformAPAthatourstudentintern,PatrickHoppuswillbejoining us in more of a long term basis. Patrick and Shannon have been part of our church for a couple of years and have demonstrated a distinct call on their lives as they have been helping in ministry through these years.

Patrick will primarily be overseeing assimilation of newcomers. This basi-cally means following up with individ-ualswhowanttogetconnectedatAPAthroughministry and life groups.HewillworkcloselywithKellyPater, ourGuest Services Coordinator in theseareas.

Patrick will also liaise with our fami-lies to coordinate family based events, working alongside our children’s pas-tor.HewillcontinuetoliaisewithourMen’sMinistryandWestof60teamtohelp coordinate these events.

Patrickhasdemonstratedarealgiftindealing with individuals through his counselling and wherever he has con-tact with people. We look forward to having both he and Shannon on our team. Patrick plans to complete his fi-nal year at Summit Pacific College this fall, but will continue on staff as time allows.

Sermon Notes

Skills for Living(Proverbs 1:2-7)

People know how to make a living but don’t know how to make a life, which is a shame for it is better to make

a good life than a good living. (D. Davidson)

So How does one Attain Wisdom? vs. 1:2• People with wisdom have the skill to face life

honestly and courageously and manage it suc-cessfullysothatGod’spurposesarefulfilledintheir life.

• Instruction is ordering life according to divine principles so that we can live skilfully.

What’s the first step to imparting wisdom to men? vs. 3• Nomatterhowenrichedoneiswithscienceand

philosophy, he is a fool if he does not practice righteousness, justice, and what is fair.

Who will find help in the proverbs? vs. 5-6We can learn in the storm or we can learn in the sanc-tuary. We can learn in the crisis or we can learn in the

classroom. Jon Courson

Sermon Notes (cont.)

Did you know? You can find videos of past sermons at apaonline.ca/media.

• The best way to make room for wisdom is to get rid of know-it-all pride.

Some things you should know about PERSONAL GROWTH.

1. Growthisn’tautomatic.2.Growthtodaybringssuccesstomorrow.3.Growthisyourresponsibility.

Wisdom Begins In The Fear of the Lord.• “Fear”isrespectforlegitimateauthority.• Fools are those who despise wisdom’s instruc-

tion, are morally bankrupt, fleshly, and practi-cally ignore of the greatest truths in the universe.

• Educationmaymakeyousmart,butonlyGodmakes you good.

• In this age of information, knowledge is plentiful, but wisdom is scarce.

If we are to gleam the wisdom of Proverbs we must bow in awe and scarce for God’s authority and re-spond to Him in faith and obedience. W.M Bryan.
