KoleKole Pass Closure —
Kolekole Pass will be closed
Feb. 25-27 to allow for live-
fire training. Also, movement
from Lualualai to KoleKole
will not be permitted during
these dates.
Fort Shafter PXMarket Re-
pavement Project — Con-
tractors will begin Phase II of
the repaving/restriping pro-
ject of the Fort Shafter
PXMarket parking lot Feb. 22
-28, which will affect the
parking lot on the west side
(Pierce Street).
Detour signs will be redi-
recting patrons to enter via
Wisser/Arsenal, near the gas
station.
AER Scholarships — Army
Emergency Relief Scholarship
opportunities for the 2010—
2011 academic year are now
available.
Army families with under-
graduate college expenses for
their dependent children may
be eligible to apply for the
Maj. Gen. James Ursano
Scholarship Program, which
offers scholarships based on
financial need, academics,
leadership and achievement
for each academic year.
The Stateside Spouse Edu-
cation Assistance Program is
a need-based education assis-
tance program designed to as-
sist spouses/widows(ers) in
gaining the education re-
quired to allow them to qual-
ify for increased occupational
opportunities.

16th Annual Honolulu Festi-
val will showcase cultural per-
formances, exhibits and a pa-
rade at four locations down-

and the Pacific Rim region.

Art and Essay Contest —
The Armed Services YMCA’s
annual art and essay contest
invites students in grades 1-12
to write an essay about ―My
Military Hero.‖ Entries must
be postmarked no later than
March 19. Winning entrees
will be displayed in a number
of locations in the Washington
D.C. area, and winners will be
recognized at a luncheon on
Capitol Hill. Entry forms are

Barracks and Fort Shafter tax
centers are open to all service
members, family members,
and retirees. Schofield Bar-

gram — Commanders and
first sergeants can approve up
to $1,000 of basic living ex-

month at Army Community
Service, or ACS, Building
2091, Schofield Barracks.

Military Order of the Pur-
ple Heart — Are you on ac-
tive duty or a veteran that
has been wounded in combat?
Have you been awarded a
Purple Heart for those
wounds?
If so, you are invited to join
the Military Order of the Pur-
ple Heart. Local chapters are
located on the islands of
Oahu, Maui, Kuai and the Big
Island. The Oahu chapter
meets the second Saturday of

Pacific Aviation Museum
Offer — The Pacific Aviation
Museum Pearl Harbor is offer-
ing one free keiki admission (4-
12 years old) with each paid
adult admission every Satur-
day and Sunday. Children un-
der 4 are always free. Adult
ticket rates are $14; $10 for
kamaaina and military.

returned through the outside

Outdoor Recreation Activities 6th March - Adventure Kayaking I(Lessons) – Half day of adventurous kayaking off various beaches around the island. Come join us and others on a staff-led group activity. (ODR) 0630-1200. Only $49 each. 8th March – Open Water Diver Certification – Receive an exciting one-week long course that will award you a LIFETIME certification as a PADI Open Water SCUBA Diver. Courses run Monday thru Sunday (OC). $229.99. Reservations must be made in advance so sign up NOW! 13th March – Kualoa Ranch Movie set/Horseback Riding - North Shore Tour, Kualoa Ranch horse-back trail ride, hike, Aquaculture program and Secret Island visit for lunch with a turtle-watching sail around Chinaman's Hat.
