Breakdown Continued6. The Rules & Expectations Board – The Rules and Expectations Board is where what is expected of the student will be located.

The classroom is set up with the student in mind, providing easy access to needed materials as well as the SmartBoard this set up is also ideal for keeping an eye on the whole of the classroom. Respecting oneself as well as others is the focus of the class and that will be gone over on a daily basis at the start of the day “Respect is one of the most widely shared yearnings among human beings, and it touches the emotional core of people in profound ways. Respect given can be powerful and transformative, the results of respect withheld can be painful or even explosive” (Lampman, 2006).

In order for a student to feel safe and compelled to learn, the teachers must first create the environment in order to do so. Welcoming and secure to all their students, whether they have special needs, different cultures or religions.
