The g oal o f Be the Link Internation al (BTLI) Junior Delegat e c am p is to help yo uth rea lize
how policies are developed a nd how to b e an ag ent of positive change globa lly anddomestically.
Junior deleg ate s will read from th e New York Times and Detroit Free Press, review
interviews and m ovies that relate to glob al and d ome stic affa irs. Stude nts will ga inknowledge on c ommunity d evelopment, international history, conflict resolution,strategy, analytical writing, etiquette and diplomac y.
No prior acad emic knowledg e is necessary, however the interest and motivation to
engag e in an ac adem ic, social and d iplomatic setting is required.
Stude nts will choose topic s of interest and ap ply them t o their project such a s pub lichealth, internationa l develop ment , environmenta l issues, agriculture and trad e. They will
work in groups and a lso give th eir opinions on current event s. Assignme nts will be give ndaily for them to complete at home.Towa rds the end o f the tw o-wee k session, stude nts will present their topic d uring their
presentation and also pose a solution for a domestic and global issue.
