Week 9 Term 3, 10th September 2014 Dear Parents, Sue Mackay Principal Week 8 Term 4, 30th November 2016 Dear Parents, The start of December will mark the beginning of Christmas festivities and the end of year activities in the school. It will also be the start of students handing out Christmas cards. We love that children get so much pleasure in the giving and in the receiving of a simple card. We do ask that candy canes or sweets are not included in the envelopes. The rubbish aside that this creates, we end up with very unsettled sugar laden students and an army of ants marching in and out of school bags with big grins on their faces. Please keep it simple – cards only, and from Monday 5 th December. Whilst we are not having a major library stocktake this year, there are large numbers of outstanding loans which need to be returned as soon as possible. Parents are unfortunately billed for lost school resources as the cost of replacing is prohibitive for the school. Please check under beds and in cupboards for any resources which need to be returned. With lots of calendar dates jumping out at everyone during the next couple of weeks, please check our online calendar and the noticeboard out the front of the school for current information. Dates of the next seven school days: Friday 2 nd December: Year 6 Mufti Day – Gold Coin donation. Each gold coin will go towards hiring a Yr 6 personal helper for a period of time. All money raised by the senior students will go towards their farewell gift to the school. Christmas colour most welcome for Mufti! Tuesday 6 th December: Yr 6 - 7 High School Orientation. Students make their own way to the high school for the start of the school day. The school buses are able to be used for travel to and from home on this day. (There will not be transport organised by Kororo School) Carols by Kororolight - 6.30pm (PLEASE RETURN YOUR BBQ ORDER ASAP) Thursday 8 th December: Two big events in one day! Kinder Christmas Concert 1.45pm Year 6 Farewell – Aanuka Beach Resort – 6pm. Friday 9 th December: Last fund raising mufti for the year. WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT - To break the world record for the longest line of coins ever! Our school is holding fundraiser to help break a world record and raise funds for The Garvan Institute Australia. Gold coin donations will be forwarded to the Mint for conversion into five cent coins for the actual attempt early next year. Last Star Worker Assemblies: K- 2 at 11.50am and Yrs 3 – 6 at 2.50pm Have a wonderful and very busy week Sue Mackay

Busy End of Year

As is the case every year, there

are many activities planned for all

stages for the last few weeks of school. A couple of hints

to ensure your child/children don’t miss out on

upcoming events.

Hint number 1: Keep an eye out in the school newsletter

for upcoming events as well as on the front gate

noticeboard.

Hint number 2: Check your child’s school bag everyday,

to make sure notes are not lost.

Hint number 3: Return notes signed and with correct

money as soon as possible.

Hint number 4: Mark events on your family calendar or

planner, so your child will be suitably attired/equipped

for that particular event.

Hint number 5: If you are unsure of any arrangements,

dates, events contact the school prior to the event so you

and your child can be adequately prepared.

Being proactive at this time of the year will hopefully

make what can be a stressful time of the year, an

enjoyable time of the year. Which is the intent for the

end of year frivolities.

Kindergarten Orientation

Here are some photos of the happy faces from

Kindergarten orientation that I mentioned in last week’s

newsletter.
