Tropical Fish Lino Design — Cassidy Yr 8
As the upcoming school holidays are drawing near, Windsor High School continues to be a busy place. We are still practicing all of the required COVID-19 Infection control measures on a daily basis. One aspect I would like to remind parents and caregivers about is the requirement that no individual - teacher or student who is sick can be on the premises. This is especially important if they are showing any flu like symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, sore throat, fever, aches and pains etc. Last week 22 students (that’s 4-5 students per day) reported to the front office as being sick. We need to keep these students separate from other students while we contact parents or emergency contacts to come and pick them up. The area where they have been sitting then must be cleaned with disinfectant before anyone else touches the area. This additional work is impacting our Administrative staff”s workload as well as potentially putting others health at risk, so it would be greatly appreciated if students are unwell that they stay at home.

Students have been exposed to lots of engaging experiences over the last week both in terms of extra-curricular and classroom experiences.
7W and 8W participated in a virtual author workshop with Australian author Mick Elliot. He shared his top tips
for creating awesome stories and the students got to share their story ideas with him. The feedback from the
students was that it was great fun.
As a part of our Breakfast Cub program some of our Year 9 students decided to start the day with the Ultimate Milo Challenge. They discussed the correct proportion of milo to milk to determine the highest quality milo milk drink. After much debate, the best way to make a Milo remains highly contentious, so we decided to agree to
disagree! A huge thank you to the School Chaplain and Helping Hands who provide breakfast for our students.

Giving the students the opportunity to experience practical experiences that they have learnt the theory about consolidates knowledge and increases engagement. One of the Year 10 Marine Studies classes got the opportunity to identify and examine the macroinvertebrates (insects) from our local ecosystem. Thanks to Vicky from Longneck Lagoon for helping collect the samples with Mr Philp. At the end of the practical all animals were returned to Longneck Lagoon unharmed.

Who said Mathematics isn’t interesting? Not us at Windsor High School. Our 7H class completed a task on
Fraction Mathtivity, an innovative lesson combining fractions with craft and creativity!
At this stage we plan on sending out Years 7 to 11 Semester One reports by the end of term. Parents and caregivers of students who did not complete work whilst remote learning occurred, and therefore have had their attendance adjusted will also receive a letter next week in the post.
Warm Regards

Year 9 Drama Year 9 Drama have been exploring the performance style of
Commedia dell’Arte. In their study they have been
experimenting with the stock characters and the conventions of
the performance style through practical workshops. In the
coming weeks year 9 Drama will be researching, designing and
creating a half mask for a stock character of their choice. They
will then devise, rehearse and perform a short scene displaying
their created mask and their performance skills. I look forward
to seeing what they come up with!
From the Deputy Desk At today’s assembly we gave students some important reminders:
Use of toilets. Students are highly encouraged to use the toilets during break times.
Keep your classroom clean. Students are reminded to finish all food before entering the classroom. Our break times are long enough for all food to be consumed during that time. We also asked our students to keep their classrooms tidy by placing all rubbish into the bin or recycling bin.
We congratulated our students for their outstanding improvement in keeping their phones off and in their bags during class time and wearing full school uniform. We still have some students who are wearing hoodies under their school jackets.
Students must wear school jumpers.

Year 12 Standard English
Term 2 has been all about
crafting writing to further skills in
imaginative, persuasive,
discursive and reflective forms of
written expression. To get the
creative juices flowing Standard
English was challenged to reflect
on their experiences as a HSC
student learning during Covid-19
to the tune of the Addams Family
theme song. Below are some of
their wonderful examples.
I'm tired and expired
This pandemic is undesired The governments conspired
The Class of 2020
Their friends just want to bop it When Scomo says to stop it You can't afford to cop it
The class of 2020 Jake
We are slightly going crazy
Too much school work on the daily
I'm just too bloody lazy
THE H.S.C IS JUST TOO MUCH!!
Lack of motivation
Not meeting expectations
I need a brain donation
THE H.S.C IS JUST TOO MUCH!!
But I know I have potential
Gotta focus on the mental
But it really is quite stressful
I KNOW THAT I’LL BE FINE!!
