Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Situational Update – January 13, 2021

§ Requested that the President declare a pre-Emergency Declaration for the District of Columbia

§ Requested that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) extend the National Special Security Event period

§ Asked DHS to coordinate with the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice (DOJ), the United States Congress, and the United States Supreme Court to establish a security and federal force deployment plan for all federal property

§ Asked the Acting Attorney General at the DOJ to direct the FBI to provide an intelligence and threat briefing on a daily basis during the period of January 11 – 24, 2021 to DC HSEMA and MPD and all law enforcement entities operating in the District of Columbia

§ Requested that the Secretary of the Department of Interior cancel any and all Public Gathering Permits in the District of Columbia and deny any applications for Public Gathering Permits during the period of January 11 – 24, 2021

On Tuesday, January 12, visible/physical preparation for the 59th Presidential

Inauguration continued. This was the beginning of the installation of the inauguration perimeter around the White House, the Mall, the Capitol and

parts of downtown.

Individuals entering the perimeter may be subject to screening and asked what their essential purpose

within the inauguration perimeter is. If you need to be within the inauguration perimeter,

be prepared to provide proof of your reason. This is similar to previous inaugurations — except the

inauguration perimeter will be established and operational for several days.

Any vehicle still in a garage or loading zone in these zones at 6:00 a.m. on Friday must remain there until after the Inauguration. Businesses that need

to receive deliveries will be advised of an off-site screening facility.

Residents and businesses between 19th to 14th Streets NW and K Street to Constitution Avenue are already being advised of restrictions beginning

Thursday morning. More information about additional closures and restricted zones forthcoming.

Beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, January 15, all parking garages in restricted zones will be blocked off.

VACCINEUPDATES

YOU MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THE VACCINE.

Go to vaccinate.dc.gov to register to receive an alert from DC Health when more appointments become available.

To reduce crowds and minimize exposure to the virus, do NOT go to a vaccination

site without an appointment.

We are making appointments available as the District receives doses from the

federal government.

Because of high demand as well as DC Health’s success in getting the vaccine out to those who are eligible, the District is calling on Operation Warp Speed to increase DC’s

vaccine allotment.

12 In Washington, DC, we nearly doubled our vaccine burn rate last week from the week before.
