Term Three has commenced well and excitement is beginning to build as the preparation for the Wembley Art Show is underway. The Art Show this year has a circus theme and it will be held in the second last week of the term. All children, from Prep to Year 6, will display a piece of art work relating to a particular aspect of the circus. The popular auction of class produced items remains as a highlight of the art show. Further de- tails regarding the opening times and organization will be available in the coming weeks. Staff have all returned from leave now and are looking refreshed and happy to be back after travels to meet up with families and friends around the world. Work around the School and Grounds During the term break new work and planned maintenance was carried out around the school. The area near the Year 3 classrooms is looking resplen- dent with its new Tiger Turf surface. This has been a welcome additional space for our Year 3 students to play four square, down ball, hopscotch and other passive games. A new path was also laid between the Year 3 classrooms and the Jim Kinniburgh building alleviating the problem of mud and stones being traipsed through the classrooms. The kitchen in the hall, which is primarily used by the Out of School Hours Care pro- gram was completely renovated and re-painted and is awaiting the final touch of new flooring to be laid. Over the next couple of weekends a covered walkway will be erected outside the Year 4 classrooms, to pro- vide shelter. The construction for this was approved by School Council at their previous meeting. Funds raised from the fantastic Trivia Night, held last term, will go towards installing fans in the hall. Quotes will be sourced for these and hopefully they will be in place in time for the coming summer months. Parking around the School A meeting has been scheduled for to- morrow morning (Thursday) with rep- resentatives from the Maribyrnong City Council to discuss the parking and signage issues that exist around the school. The outcome of this meeting will be communicated in fu- ture newsletters. Next week we welcome back Jim Kin- niburgh, our esteemed literacy con- sultant as he works with students and teachers on targeted professional de- velopment in reading and writing strategies.
