We would like to welcome you to Wortley Hall and congratulate you on your forthcoming marriage. This is an incredibly special time for you both and we’re here to help you make the most of your journey. Your wedding will be a day to remember forever and we have a setting that is picturesque, elegant, relaxing and simply a wonderful retreat from your everyday life.

Organising and perfecting the finer details that make up your wedding day is our pleasure. From intimate to extravagant, traditional to unique, Wortley Hall is at your service and dedicated to creating an unforgettable wedding day that you will remember for years to come.

Wortley Hall was originally the ancestral home of the Earl of Wharncliffe and is host to a number of individually designed ceremony and dining rooms, all with original features in keeping with the history and heritage of the building. The Hall is situated within 26 acres of picturesque formal gardens and woodlands which create the most amazing backdrop for your wedding photography.

Imagine your guests socialising on our terrace and gardens amidst the perfectly kept floral beds and pruned greenery, a glass of chilled prosecco in hand and our attentive waiting staff serving you a selection of your individually selected canapés. All of this would certainly make for the perfect setting for your special day.

Civil Ceremony Our beautiful ceremony rooms offer the most perfect setting for your civil ceremony, each room with its own individual design and original features. We have eight rooms licenced to hold civil ceremonies, from intimate ceremonies for 10 guests up to large celebrations for 200 guests.

AEU LOUNGE FOR UP TO 130 GUESTSAs your guests enter our Lounge they will be amazed by the beautifully detailed original ceiling, hand painted with gold leaf. The room is flooded with light with huge original sash windows and French doors straight out on to our outdoor terrace, a perfectly romantic setting for your ceremony.

SYLVIA PANKHURST LIBRARY FOR UP TO 50 GUESTSA bookworm’s paradise is our stunning Library adorned with books displayed in original oak shelves. With an original fireplace, crystal chandeliers and sash windows the room is packed with bags of character and the perfect setting for a ceremony with a difference.

CLARKE BOARDROOM FOR UP TO 30 GUESTSAdorned with hand carved original oak panelled walls and floor to ceiling sash windows, our Clarke Boardroom provides the quaintest setting for your more intimate ceremony. The huge windows provide the most amazing backdrop overlooking the perfectly kept gardens.

FOUNDRY DINING ROOM FOR UP TO 150 GUESTSThe first thing that hits you as you walk in to the Foundry Dining Room is the amazing crystal chandelier hung from the hand painted Italianate ceiling. With original stained glass and oak panelling the room is bursting with grandeur.

UNITE BALLROOM FOR UP TO 200 GUESTSThe largest of our eight licenced ceremony rooms, the Unite Ballroom boasts high ceilings draped with six stunning crystal chandeliers. High level windows surround the room flooding natural daylight in to your ceremony and creating a light and airy feel to the room.

FBU BAR FOR UP TO 30 GUESTSUsually our cosy bar area, the FBU bar is also licenced for ceremonies. With oak panelled walls and original hand painted ceiling the room is full of all the grandeur of a stately home.

NAW GARDEN ROOM FOR UP TO 20 GUESTSA cosy room with floor to ceiling sash windows overlooking the beautiful gardens, like the Clarke Boardroom it is perfect for your more intimate ceremony.

UNISON NORTH WEST GAS ROOM FOR UP TO 50 GUESTSAn elegantly decorated room with original mirrored fireplace, coving and crystal chandeliers draped from the ceiling. A wall of sash windows adorn the room flooding it with natural daylight, providing glorious views of the picturesque gardens.

With six huge crystal chandeliers, original oak floor and stage, it is the perfect setting for a party to remember. Our resident DJ will have you and your guests dancing all night to your favourite music.

Charlotte & ChrisAs a professional photographer Wortley Hall is an all season wedding venue, with a variety of indoor and outdoor areas for photographs and several informal and formal spaces for you to host your wedding celebrations. I had the pleasure of returning to Wortley for Charlotte and Chris' wedding. They are a fabulous couple and I am delighted to say they had a fantastic Wortley Hall wedding back in October. This organised couple (Charlotte ha-ha) booked me well in advance of their wedding day. I knew from their pre-shoot earlier this year they were naturals in front of the camera. Living out of the area their closest family and friends travelled to share their marriage celebrations with them. I was delighted to see Autumnal weather had graced us as we arrived at Wortley Hall. I love the light this time of year, Wortley Hall provides a beautiful backdrop of colours for wedding photography. After a wonderful ceremony, Charlotte and Chris were announced husband and wife and the entire wedding party made their way outside to begin the days celebrations. Below Charlotte and Chris tell us more about why they chose Wortley Hall as their wedding venue...

WHAT KEY FACTORS DID YOU CONSIDER THAT HELPED YOU DECIDE ON YOUR VENUE?Chris says “The location was very important because we wanted to get married in Yorkshire, as this is where we both grew up. The building had to have a history behind it, not just a hotel. We also wanted all our suppliers (florist, cake supplier etc) to be local or based in Yorkshire. We actually chose most of our suppliers from a wedding fayre at Wortley Hall, so we knew they were from the area”.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO BOOK WORTLEY HALL AS YOUR WEDDING VENUE?Firstly, the staff were incredibly confident, reassuring and helpful. The all inclusive package provided to us ensured all the important parts of the wedding were taken care of by Wortley Hall, such as the meals. It was also appealing that ours was the only wedding taking place at Wortley Hall on the day. The location was perfect, and after reading into the history of the building and each of the rooms, we knew this was the wedding venue for us.

WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE LOCATION OR ROOM AT WORTLEY HALL AND WHY?The Foundry Dining Room is a beautiful room with a fantastic chandelier and ceiling, and once our wedding stylist had dressed the room it looked incredible.

HOW DO YOU RATE THE STAFF AT WORTLEY HALL?Charlotte mentions “The staff at Wortley Hall were fantastic, they have a lot of experience in wedding planning and ensured our day ran smoothly. We did not have to worry about anything on our big day, everything went perfectly. They even provided beautiful weather, which can’t have been easy to find in the middle of October”.

WHAT WAS YOUR CHOSEN WEDDING BREAKFAST MENU?Our wedding breakfast was:- Red onion and Wensleydale tart with rocket salad- Roast sirloin of beef with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and red wine gravy- Sticky toffee pudding, salted caramel and clotted creamThe food was incredible, lots of our guests were raving about it afterwards. We’d definitely recommend it.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO THE BRIDE TO ASSIST HER WEDDING PLANNING?Charlotte answers “Plan your wedding together as a couple, and start planning early. Choose a venue that has a lot of experience in planning weddings. Always remember it is your big day, so do what you both want and most importantly, enjoy the whole process”.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO THE GROOM TO TAME THOSE WEDDING NERVES?Chris states “Remember that all your guests are there because you’ve invited them. They are rooting for you both, and want you to have an amazing day. Also, an audience with full stomachs is more likely to laugh at the ‘jokes’ in your speech, so save the speeches for after the wedding breakfast!”
