Legal do’s and don’ts• You must both be resident in The Bahamas for at least 24 hours

before you can get married.

• You must both produce necessary documents such as a valid 10year passport, notarised proof of divorce or death certificate ifrelevant, adoption papers or proof of name change by deed poll,if applicable.

• Single status affidavit.

• Proof of date of arrival in The Bahamas with either a BahamasImmigration Card or passport entry stamp.

• Proof of parental consent if aged under 18.

• A marriage licence, which costs $120 .

• No blood test is necessary.

• If either party has been divorced, the original final decree or acertified copy must be produced. Where applicable, a translated,certified and notarized copy of the final decree must be produced.

• If marrying in the Out Islands, you can obtain a marriage licence atthe Administrator’s Office on your chosen island and do not need togo to Nassau.

• On returning home, you can register your marriage with yourlocal registrar to ensure you will be included in the UK NationalWedding Statistics.

TipAsk for a few copies of your wedding certificate as it may be difficult toget any duplicates at a later date once you’re back home.
