Website /Supplier Fact Sheet Maitland, NSW Peter and Jay purchased their townhouse as an investment and what they thought was an easy way to get into the property market. It’s a double storey, three bedroom property with a deck out the back and lockup garage. The home, which was tenanted, has been on the market for approximately three years, with three different real estate agents. They did receive one offer but it was too low for them to take without losing money. So now it is up to Shaynna and Charlie to work their magic, creating a light, bright, low maintenance home perfect for an investor or first time buyer.

Summary of works – Interior This unit was small and dark, so painting the interior was essential. Shaynna also used low maintenance and hardwearing flooring to appeal to the investor or first time buyer. This was a commercial grade laminate floor throughout the kitchen, dining and lounge area. This also reflected what little light there was in the downstairs space, making it feel larger. The kitchen was a tricky, small closed in space, so Shaynna moved a wall and increased the width of the doorway creating a more open kitchen-dinner. A new modern kitchen layout with smaller appliances also added to the feeling of more space. The upstairs bedrooms, hallway and staircase were carpeted to keep the warm nature of a home. While the bathroom was revived by a re-spray and swapping the old tap ware for a modern style for a completed upgrade look. Summary of works – Exterior There might not be much of a backyard but Charlie has worked wonders, making the most of what there was given to work with. In addition to re-staining the existing deck, Charlie has brought this space back to life and the furniture really tops this relaxing area off. By building up the garden bed with sleepers, steps, deck and bench combo Charlie has created a tranquil outdoor area for a small group to sit down and put their feet up. By surrounding this section with this garden bed and some mature trees Charlie has now provided the rear of the property with some much needed privacy from the surrounding properties. The all-important planting gives this space the life and softness it needs…and, dare I say, a little bit of that country feel it lacked before.
