What is this webquest that you speak of?

• Where did it come from?

Webquest has been around since 1995 and was created by the San Diego State University. (Questgarden, n.pag.)

• What is it exactly? Webquest is a tool to help students use the internet to the best of their ability and to acquire higher order thinking skills for the technology they are using. (Questgarden n.pag.)

How do you use this so-called webquest?

• As a teacher you want students to develop their own questions about your content knowledge. A webquest be the gateway for them to access the answers.

• As a teacher you want to provide resources to their questions.

How do you use this so-called webquest?

• A webquest is typically divided up into these parts.

• Introduction • Task• Process to complete the

task.

• 3 things that should also be on your webquest is:

• Resources• Evaluation- so the students

can see exactly what is expected of them

• Conclusion- So you can give your students feed-back during the process.

• Final Project• (Webquest 101, video)

• Have students make books.

• Have students make a museum exhibit.

• Hold a debate

• Have students perform higher order thinking skills and answer questions.

Why is webquest beneficial in the classroom?

• A webquest is a great alternative to a worksheet.

• Even young students can use them.• A webquest gets students to think about real

world problems and help the student use higher order thinking.

• The resources are already posted so it saves time for the students so they do not have to look up resources but can give a head start to the webquest process. Very easy for kids.
