We work through the new concepts together as a class, then students work independently. Assignments not completed in class become homework due the following day. Memorizing multiples is important. Science Students learn about the Engineering Design Process. This is a methodical process that engineers use in order to solve problems. First we read a realistic fiction story about a real world problem and how a child creates a way to solve it. Students develop an understanding of these concepts. The big fun is when we get hands-on practice designing, creating, and testing their group’s maglev train system. Literacy This week students will read an excerpt from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Students will get more practice with comparing and contrasting stories and annotating text. Students continue revising their fairy tales. We’re pushing the students to revise & add details in order to help the reader visualize what is happening in their story by using adjectives and sensory words. These have been such a delight for me to read! Spelling Test Last week’s spelling test was bumped due to a 4 th grade ANET assessment on Friday.
