School Age and Adults Swim Teacher Award Date: Sunday 20 October Venue: Arataki Community Centre, Mt Maunganui Time: 9am – 5pm The School Age and Adults Award is for the swim teacher who wants to develop their skills teaching school age and adult swimmers. By the end of the School Age and Adults course, the participant will be able to: Plan and conduct a developmental series of swimming lessons in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly for school age and adult swimmers Demonstrate an ability to recognise and correct faults in all strokes including starts and turns Demonstrate an understanding of the biomechanics of swimming and assist both school age and adult learners to improve their competency in each stroke Demonstrate an understanding of teaching and learning principles for both children and adults Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of risk management in and around the aquatic environment Book on the School Age & Adult course in Tauranga on the 20 October and attend the Breaststroke and Butterfly clinic for free! Teaching Swimmers with Disabilities course

Saturday 9th November 20139.30am – 5pm

Waterworld, Garnett Ave, Te Rapa,Hamilton

               

The TSWD course is a great opportunity for you to develop skills and gain confidence in aquatic education for swimmers with disabilities. Anyone who holds the ASTA (Assistant Swim Teacher Award) can register for the Teaching Swimmers with Disabilities course.

To understand the benefits of learn to swim for swimmers with disabilitiesTo provide an understanding of working With swimmers with disabilitiesTo provide basic safety for all swimmers including with swimmers with disabilitiesTo provide the skills and knowledge to plan and adapt lessons to include swimmers with disabilitiesTo provide an understanding of the pathways of inclusion in aquatic educationTo experience swimming with a disabilityTo inform of the various agencies that can assist swimmers with disabilities in their swimming pathway

To complete the TSWD:

Attend the one day session and participate in all aspects of the course including the pool sessionLog 20 hours of teaching swimmers with disabilities. Complete all assignments.Undergo a practical assessment conducted by a Swimming New Zealand Representative
