Chapter 8 Math Test Study Guide These are the concepts that your child must know. They must be able to use these concepts/skills and apply them to word problems. Students were already given the Ch. 8 “SBAC” Practice Test. These prepare us for SBAC testing in April/May, but they are much more rigorous than chapter tests. Your child will be taking Illuminate tests which reflect SBAC type questions. See pictures below for Illuminate question practice Skills that they must have mastered for this chapter: *Equivalent Fractions: Recognizing and finding them Example: 2/3 = ____4/6__________ 1/2 = ________3/6_________ *Factors and Multiples Example: Is 51 a multiple of 3? _________ Is 4 a factor of 60? __________ *Prime and Composite Numbers Prime numbers only have two factors: 1 and itself; Composite Numbers have more than 2 factors 0 and 1 are neither prime nor composite *Simplest Form Example 4/10 = 2/5 in simplest form *How to compare and order fractions Example: Which is larger, 5/8 or 9/11? Put in order from smallest to largest: 3/5, 1/3, 2/9 *Mixed number and Improper Fractions Examples: 2 ½ = 5/2
