MARCH, 2016 Classroom News It’s Marvelous March! On March 16 th , we will go on our Maple Sugaring Field Trip to the Taylor Road Family Recreation Facility in Hamburg. The students will learn about the process of how maple sugar is made and will even get the chance to buy some maple sugar products. Please send the permission slip and lunch slip back as soon as possible. Don’t forget to send in one canned good or an old pair of sneakers for donation for your child and bring an extra one if you plan on attending the field trip as well. In writing, the students are working on nonfiction writing pieces called, All About Books. They choose a topic they feel they are an expert in and write a book to teach others about their subject. The books include a table of contents, multiple chapters, bold words and a glossary. Some fun topics the students came up with include: All About Being an Uncle, All About Washing Cars, All About Being the Oldest Kid and All About Summer! March will be full of science! We are continuing our Growing Healthy Unit. The students learned about making positive choices, what peer pressure is, and will learn about bullying. They will also learn about how to make healthy food choices using the Food Pyramid, make healthy snack Mrs. McHale’s Corner This year, our school is having Family Fun Night on Friday, March 18 th from 6-8 p.m. Our class is putting together a basket with a “sports” theme. Science is embedded within our next literacy unit, Seasons and Weather. The students will learn about weather patterns, how life changes along with the seasons, how severe weather affects us, and how people can measure and predict weather.

Fun Night on Friday, March 18th from 6-8 p.m. Our class is putting together a basket with a “sports” theme. If you would like to donate an item or send in money for the basket, please do so as soon as possible. Thank you to the parents who have already sent in money or donations for the basket!

Our school is still collecting Box Tops, so please continue to send them in!
