HOLY WEEK 2021 Holy means “set apart.” Catholic set apart an entire week – Holy Week – to recall the events surrounding the Suffering, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus. Palm Sunday, March 27/28: Reading of the Passion and Distribution & Blessing of Palms at all the Masses. Today we mark Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Palm Sunday is marked by a procession of the faithful carrying palm branches, representing those who celebrated Christ’s entrance into the Holy City. The Good Friday service is held in the afternoon at the hour when Jesus dies on the Cross. We hear the reading of the Passion, we venerate the Cross, and receive Communion. In the evening we walk the Way of the Cross to remember that walking with Jesus now, we hope to join him in heaven.

Easter Vigil, April 3: Blessing of the New Fire & Paschal Candle, Readings of Salvation History, Baptism of Adults, Holy Communion. Holy Saturday night commemorates the Resurrection of the Lord at an hour that only that Holy Night knows. We bless the new fire and Easter candle that reminds us of the light of the resurrection. The Rites of

Initiation welcome new members to the Baptism waters. We receive communion as part of our sharing in the life of the Risen Christ.

Easter Sunday, April 4 Blessing with Holy Water, Holy Communion. Easter morning, we celebrate the Risen Christ appearing to his disciples. He is triumphant over sin and death! Love, forgiveness, and joy are the gifts we receive and share because Christ lives!
