2. Think carefully about who would live in the rainforest house. What would they look like? What would their personality be? What are their interests? Write a character description about the person or family that might live there. You should include one paragraph describing their appearance, using plenty of expanded noun phrases and prepositional phrases. Your next paragraph should describe their personality and what their day-to-day life would be like. Think about how their days would be different to living in a town.

3. Design your own house in a strange place! Your house could be in the ocean, the desert, in the clouds… the possibilities are endless! Think about what your house would look like and what features it would have. How is it different to your own house? Would it need anything special for people to be able to live there? Draw a picture of your house in its strange place and include detailed labels about the features.

4. Write an explanation about your house in a strange place. Your first paragraph should include a description of what it looks like and who lives in it. Your second paragraph should describe the special features of the house and how people manage to live successfully and safely in it.

5. Use the story starter to write an adventure story about the house in the rainforest. Think carefully about your opening, build up, problem, resolution and ending. Who will the characters be? The setting will be the house, but why is it no ordinary house? What will happen there?

Hidden deep in the Malaysian rainforest, is a house. Not an ordinary house of course…

Foundation subjects:

1. Transition: It is the time of year when we think about moving to our new year groups. You may remember that the move from year 2 to year 3 seemed big and scary at first, but it ended up being fine! The current year 2s might be worried about moving up to year 3, so your mission is to write a letter telling them what it’s like in year 3 and what they have to look forward to! You should write at least 3 paragraphs telling them about all the fun things they might get up to, and how some things might be different (for example lunchtimes, breaktimes, no golden time). You may want to tell them about:

Our trip to Ufton Court Your favourite year 3 topics Your favourite things you have made in year 3 How learning might be different – more independence for example Sitting at tables, not on the carpet Clubs

Ask your adult if you can email your letter to [email protected] and we can share them with the year 2 children before they come to year 3!

2. Music: Turntable choreography! https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/ten-pieces/ten-pieces-at-home/zjy3382

3. PSHCE: You are AMAZING! Spend some time thinking about how amazing you are and the reasons why. Fill in the stars below explaining the reasons why you are amazing. It may help to ask somebody in your house what they think as well.

4. Art/D&T: Design your own jigsaw puzzle! Draw a scene on the puzzle template below, colour it in, cut it out neatly and see if you can put it together again! It’s easier to put the pieces together if you stick them on card, but it doesn’t matter if you don’t have card. Hint: Make sure every piece has something drawn on it, or the puzzle might be impossible… Can someone else complete your puzzle? Here are some ideas:
