Make a model using recycled materials, base the model on your favourite place to visit e.g. park, beach school etc
Older and younger children can work together to create a model
Resources you could use: Empty cereal packets, toilet rolls, cardboard boxes, shoe boxes, paper, card, egg cartons, yogurt tubs, drawing materials, tape or glue. Don’t forget to ask your adults permission for items you can use.

Question: which material is the most appropriate for certain objects or items? Why?
Look around the home and collect different materials. Explain why they are different from each other- e.g. fabric is soft, and plastic is hard etc. List the types of objects that would be good for these materials and the types that would not be good for them e.g. paper is good for writing on but not good as a dinner plate.
Challenge – Explain the differences you observe in the materials.
Younger children
Use senses to talk about what the different materials around the home and their uses.
Older children
Collect different types of materials and sort by any characteristics (any – colour, feel, quality etc)
Make a hat or boat using different materials and test the properties. E.g paper hat or plastic hat – test is warm and waterproof? Is it strong and fexible?
Challenge
Research on the internet as how these materials are created. How is plastic/glass made? Is paper stronger than cardboard? Create a leaflet that explains what you found out.

Today we are going to look at pointillism.
Pointillism is associated with the artist Georges Seurat. Pointillism is when you make a picture using lots of small dots or ‘points’
You will need - felt tips, colouring pencils, paints & cotton buds, pencil or crayons.
Materials
If you do not have any of these that’s OK! You can login to:
My USO, J2e, click on Jib5 on top of the page, the click and paint, create your own picture and at the bottom change the size of the point on the paintbrush and remember to use lots of different colours.
Younger Children
Yr1 - Draw a heart and if you have paints, dip the top of your index finger into the paint and dot it on your heart. Stay going until the heart is fully filled in. You can also use felt tips/crayons/colouring pencils.
Yr2 - Draw a fish and if you have paints, use the top of a pencil, dip it into the paint and fill in the fish. You can also use felt tips/crayons/colouring pencils.
Older Children
Yr4 - Draw the sunflowers painting by Van Gogh or a normal flower and if you have paints and cotton buds, dip the cotton buds into the paint and fill in your flowers. You can also use felt tips/crayons/colouring pencils.
Yr5 - Draw an animal and add in lots of detail e.g. Fish, parrot butterfly. if you have paints and a pencil, dip the nib of the pencil into the paint and fill in your animal. You
