We are all so excited to welcome students back into the building. This upcoming year the 8th grade is divided into three teams. This year’s teams are named after Science concepts, but also double as puns with a double meaning. Your child is on Team Potential Energy, which consists of Mr. Brown (Math), Mr. Krocke (Science), Mr. Zaleski (Social Studies), Mr. Rodriguez (E/LA), Mrs. Gann (ESL), Mr. Velasquez (ESL), Coach Watson (Health/PE), and Coach Somers (Health/PE). We chose the name Potential Energy because we know that your child has endless potential. Our main goal this year will be to drive students to harness that positive energy in order to reach their full potential. Parents, with your help, support, and encouragement, they will turn that potential into success. Teaming is a teaching-learning approach in which we share our resources and expertise to provide an integrated curriculum for each of our students. We strive to recognize the unique changes and developmental demands of each student by providing positive classroom experiences with a focus on consistent expectations for mutual respect and cooperation. Teaming gives students and teachers the feeling of belonging to a small group which shares common goals and whose members are supportive of each other. Teaming also provides the opportunity for parents to join with students and teachers in sharing information, ideas, and activities. Working together as a team, we want to provide the best possible educational environment. Dear Broadview Middle School Families,

It’s that time of year again!

BehaviorStudents are expected to demonstrate respect for themselves, as well as their peers and to exhibit courteous and responsible behavior at all times. We have the highest expectations regarding our students as they are ambassadors for Broadview Middle, their family, their community and their academic team. They should be punctual for homeroom and all classes and bring necessary supplies and books to class every day.

HomeworkAll homework assignments will be checked and evaluated. Many times we will review homework in class; therefore, assignments will be expected to be completed on time.

If a student is absent, they are responsible for homework and class work. Upon their return to school, it is the responsibility of the student to schedule time with their basic subject teachers to make up any missed work in a timely manner. Adjustments to this policy will be made to accommodate extenuating circumstances.

Supplies/OrganizationSupply lists for each grade level will be made available to students on the first day of school as well as at open house. It is mandatory for students to keep up with and bring their needed materials to class every day. This is a special note to our 8th grade: If you are interested in Spanish for High School credit, you may speak to a representative during Open House or call the building to let us know about your interest. Communication Parents can e-mail the basic subject teachers utilizing the Broadview Middle School Web Page. We encourage this method of communication as it provides for improved teacher-parent communication. Parents may also call the school with concerns, to volunteer in the school, or to help set up conferences as needed. Please feel free to call about any questions. 336-570-6195. Thank you so much for your continued support.

Best Wishes,

The Teachers of BMS 8th Grade Team Potential Energy
