Dear Bawi,

Hola! This Spring Break, Miss McPherson took me on an amazing vacation! First, we took an airplane to Honduras, a country in Central America. Miss McPherson was practicing her Spanish, and I picked up a couple of words too! The people who live in Honduras are very friendly and glad to help us when we couldn’t think of the correct word.

Once we landed in Honduras, we took a ferry to the beautiful island of Utila. An island is completely surrounded by water. Utila is an island famous for its sandy beaches and coral reefs.

I enjoyed my days on the beach looking for seashells and lying on the nice warm sand. Then I got to snorkel in the ocean. I saw corals, spotted eagle rays, a barracuda, and hundreds of beautiful fish.

After full days of snorkeling, I enjoyed refreshing iced coffee by the beach. What a view! My favorite part of the day was watching the sunset while relaxing in my hammock. What a wonderful way to end the day.

After a few days on the island, we took the ferry back to the mainland of Honduras. Then, we rode on a bus for almost eight hours to the ancient Mayan ruins of Copan. Once in Copan, we even got to ride in a tuk-tuk, which is similar to a motorcycle with three wheels. Whee! At the Mayan ruins, it was amazing to see structures built hundreds of years ago. It was fascinating to learn so much about the Mayan culture.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was visiting Macaw Mountain, a nature reserve where I got to see and feed parrots, toucans, and macaws of course!

Wow! Thank you so much for sending me to Miss McPherson. We had a great time! I can’t believe everything I got to do over Spring Break. From snorkeling, to visiting the ancient Mayan ruins, to feeding the macaws, I had an incredible adventure! Maybe you will get to visit someday too!
