Students have been learning to make a pre-write and rough draft. Then, students work to edit their rough drafts (checking for sentence SWAG!) before making a neat final copy. Important Dates December 13- Pictures with Santa December 15- AR Goal ends (4 points) Class Holiday Party December 16- Movie/ PJ Day End of 3 rd 6-week period December 19-Jan 3- Winter Break News from the Teacher As we get closer to midyear, please continue to practice sight words with your student at home. Students should know all of List A (100 words) by end of December. A copy was sent home in your child’s folder. Sight word knowledge is critical to reading success. Here are some great ways to practice sight words at home: Have your child draw a picture to go with their sight word and make a flashcard Read and write the sight word (as they write it, say the word to connect the word to its sounds) Point out sight words in reading (many are found in our weekly story) Games (word searches, memory with flashcards, go fish with flashcards, letter magnet spelling) Remember- flashcards can be printed from our class website under the section “For Parents” www.mrsfangmansclass.weebly.com

Math:- Identify and draw 2-D, plane (flat) figures

including fractional parts of shapes- Identify and draw 3-D figures- Use concrete manipulatives to create

composite shapes from 2D or 3D shapes
