Selection Criteria

Please respond to all the Selection Criteria to a maximum of 300 words each. In your responses demonstrate that you possess the qualifications, expertise, professional experience and knowledge to provide telephone-based trauma-informed therapeutic support to adults who experienced complex childhood trauma and abuse, and to those who support survivors personally and professionally.

Essential:

1. Qualifications: Minimum bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or counselling

2. Full or provisional registration as a psychologist, or full registration as a counsellor or psychotherapist with PACFA or ACA; or a degree certified social worker

3. Three years (full time equivalent) counselling experience.

4. Current theoretical knowledge of and expertise in complex trauma, trauma dynamics and the impacts and effects of traumatic stress

5. Demonstrated evidence to the application of best practice principles in working in short term counselling with adult survivors of complex childhood trauma

6. Flexibility and responsiveness to work tasks

7. Emotional competence when working in a high demand trauma setting

8. A commitment to recovery focused practice.

9. Experience in risk assessment, interventions and crisis management10. Computer literacy skills including competency in Word, Excel, Outlook and internet use

11. Flexibility to work on some weekends, attend evening based team meetings, professional development and supervision

Shifts Available

The current vacancy is for 14 hours on weekdays (currently Monday 10am – 5pm and Friday 9 – 5p) with weekend shifts after a probationary period. The roster changes over time and other shifts may become available

$40 per hour, + superannuation and salary sacrificing

Weekend shifts are available after an orientation period to counsellors who work at least two shifts

per week.
