Desktop Integration in Windchill_10.1 M010Windchill Desktop Integration (DTI) allows you to perform Windchill actions on documents (such as downloading, checking out, and checking in content) without opening Windchill in a web browser. You can also use Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook) to create, edit, and save Windchill documents.

To use desktop integration, you must first download the DTI plugin.

Follow the below steps to install and configure DTI features in Microsoft Office applications :

Installation Process:

1. Go to your Windchill Home page --> Quick Links --> Software Downloads

2. Click on Windchill Desktop Integration

3. Run the setup.exe file

4. select Language

5. click on next

6. click next

7. select Anyone who uses this computer

8. select type as complete

9. Installed successfully

Configure DTI in Microsoft Office applications:

Configuration Steps :

1. Open an excel sheet . Windchill Tab will be visible at the top of excel sheet.

2. Click on Configuration. Enter the server URL and give an alias name and click ok.

3. Select the server you want to connect

Windchill Attribute Mapping:

Windchill Desktop Integration maps Windchill document attributes, such as name and number, to Microsoft Office file properties.

Mapping Process:

1. Name the cell of excel

2. Go to Office Button and select prepare --> properties

3. Go to Advanced Properties

4. Select custom tab and select Document number in the Name filed. In the value field give your cell name you want to map with Windchill Document Number

5. To map the IBA give the logical identifier name of custom attribute name in the Name field

( i.e. IBA|Customer).

6. Create new Windchill Document from excel

7. Select the context in which you want to create the document

8. Enter the attribute values and click

on finish

9. Now open your excel sheet and click on Refresh Properties. You can see the value which we entered in Windchill UI has been populated here.
