Similaries and Differences 2

Directions: Show your child the the 2 pictures that are shown on the page. First ask him/her to tell you 1 thing that is the same about them. You can ask: How are they the same, how are they alike, or how are they similar? (switch which question you use so your child will learn that the words “same,” “alike,” and “similar” mean the same thing) If your child had difficulty, you can prompt him/her by stating “They both are what” or “they both have what.” Once your child states a similarity, ask him/her to tell you 1 thing that is different about them. You can ask: How are they different? If your child had difficulty, you can prompt him/her by stating “What does one have or do that the other does not?”

Cookies and Crackers: Similar : both are food/snacks, you eat them Different : cookies are sweet and crackers are salty
