BRIEF DESCRIPTIONOur 10 course objectives include: promote citizenship, develop leadership, communicate effectively, improve physical fitness, provide incentive to live drug-free, strengthen positive self-motivation, provide a historical perspective of the military services, work as a team member, graduate from high school with a plan, and demonstrate “Make No Excuses”. Students participate in drill and ceremonies, physical training, and classroom work while preparing for the many extracurricular activities after school and on weekends. For example, students go whitewater rafting, hiking, camping, and other adventure training. They perform color guards for the Atlanta Hawks, the Chattanooga Lookouts and perform community service. We compete in local, regional and national competitions in drill and raider teams. Students earn ribbons and military type awards to wear on their uniforms which they wear one day each week. Students must maintain a military haircut and grooming standards. Students who complete 3 semesters of JROTC are exempted from taking health and physical education.

BRIEF DESCRIPTIONWork-Based Learning (WBL) is an opportunity for students to utilize the skills that they have learned in the classroom and also discover new skills in a work environment. During the WBL journey, students gain valuable work experience and network with a variety of potential employers while submitting journals, career plans, monthly time cards, and being evaluated by their employers and school Work-Based Learning Coordinator.

Work-Based Learning includes non-paid internships, paid part-time jobs, and/or apprenticeships. Students will attend school for a half-day and spend the rest of the day working at their place of employment. In order to join WBL, students will fill out an application (usually during the second semester of their junior year) and interview with the Work-Based Learning Coordinator in order to be accepted into the Work-Based Learning program. It's an excellent way to test-drive a career.

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR WORK-BASED LEARNING:

Student has at least 20 credits and on track to graduate.

Student has passed all 1st, 2nd and 3rd core courses.
