A reading from the prophet Isaiah

Thus says the Lord: Share your bread with the hungry, and shelter the homeless poor, clothe the one you see to be naked and turn not from your own kin. Then will your light shine like the dawn and your wound be quickly healed over. Your integrity will go before you and the glory of the Lord behind you. Cry, and the Lord will answer; call, and he will say, 'I am here.' If you do away with the yoke, the clenched fist, the wicked word, if you give your bread to the hungry, and relief to the oppressed, your light will rise in the darkness, and your shadows become like noon.

The word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

Responsorial Psalm (sung)

Father Paul: The Lord be with you

All: And with your Spirit

Father Paul: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.

All: Glory to you, O Lord

Jesus said to his disciples: 'You are the salt of the earth. But if salt becomes tasteless, what can make it salty again? It is good for nothing, and can only be thrown out to be trampled underfoot by men. 'You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill-top cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp to put it under a tub; they put it on the lamp-stand where it shines for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine in the sight of men, so that, seeing your good works, they may give the praise to your Father in heaven.'

The Gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Father Paul: The Lord be with you.

All: And with your spirit.

Father Paul: Lift up your hearts

All: We lift them up to the Lord.

Father Paul: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All: It is right and just.

Father Paul: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,Always and everywhere to give you thanks, Father most holy, through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, your Word through whom you made all things, whom you sent as our Saviour and Redeemer, incarnate by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin.

Fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy people,he stretched out his hands as he endured his Passion,so as to break the bonds of death and manifest the resurrection. And so, with the Angels and all the Saintswe declare your glory as with one voice we acclaim:

All: (sung) Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.Heaven and earth are full of your gloryHosanna in the highest.Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LordHosanna in the highest.

Father Paul: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall,so that they may become for us the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,and gave it to his disciples, saying:

Page 12: planningmass.weebly.complanningmass.weebly.com/uploads/3/8/2/6/38265385/year_12...  · Web view2020-02-02 · 'You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill-top cannot be

“Take this all of you and eat it: This is my body which will be given up for you.”

In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and, once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying:

“Take this all of you and drink from it; for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.”

Father Paul: The mystery of faith.

All: (sung) We proclaim your Death, and profess your resurrection, until you come again.

Father Paul: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and

Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.Remember, Lord, your church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Francis our Pope and all the clergy.Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the blessed Apostles, St Benedict, St Mary Mackillop and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify youthrough your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through him, and with him, and in him,O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, for ever and ever.

All: (sung) Amen, Amen Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen.

Father Paul: At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine teaching,

Page 13: planningmass.weebly.complanningmass.weebly.com/uploads/3/8/2/6/38265385/year_12...  · Web view2020-02-02 · 'You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill-top cannot be

Father Paul: Deliver us Lord, we pray, from every evil graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy,we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress,as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

All: For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever.

Father Paul: Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your apostles:Peace I leave you, my peace I give you; look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will.Who live and reign for ever and ever.

All: Amen.
