WebEx: A Step-by-Step Guide for New Users

Tap on the WebEx app on the homescreen of your iPad.


If you do not see this page then you are signed in and should Skip to Page 13. If you do see this page, then you are not signed in. Tap the green ‘Sign in’ button.


Type in your email address. You can find your email address from your WebEx account on page 6

Once you’ve entered your email, tap the big green button ‘Next.’


Type in your Password and tap on the green button ‘Sign In.’

You can find your password for your WebEx account on page 6


If you see this page, then you are signed in. Here, no meeting has been scheduled yet. To double check, tap on the ‘Refresh’ button symbol.


Tap on this button to refresh the page. Always refresh the page before you join a meeting so that the most up-to-date information is presented on your screen.

This is how your homepage should look when a meeting is scheduled.

In order to access the meeting, tap the green button ‘Join’ on the top right corner of the screen. If you are able to join using the green button, skip to page 17.

If this does not work, continue to page 9.


If you are unable to join a meeting using the green button, then there may be a system error. In this instance you will have to Join by Number (see page 7).


Tap ‘Join By number’ on the bottom right of the screen. See page 7 for your list of meetings numbers.

To find the number needed to join this meeting, see your list of “Meeting Numbers” on page 7. Find the number that corresponds with the meeting you wish to join, and type this number in. Press “Join” to enter the meeting.


Type in the meeting number, then tap ‘Join”

Once you’ve joined the meeting, the page seen below should appear. FIRST, tap ‘Connect using Internet’ when prompted.


NEXT, check to see if your conference call is on “Mute.” FINALLY, tap on the video icon and select ‘Start My Video’ so others are able to see you.


Your microphone is currently muted if the mircophone icon has a diagonal line through it.

To un-mute , tap the icon then tap ‘Unmute Call’ so that others in the video conference are able to hear you. The button should therefore look like this:

If you want to mute yourself (so that others cannot hear you) then tap

You should then be able to see yourself and your host.

Here you can see who is in the conference with you. By tapping on individual people you can chat with them personally or tap on ‘chat with everyone’ if you would prefer that.

Here you can see the meeting info. It identifies the host of the meeting and the meeting number.

Adjusting the view of your Host:


If you double tap on the host’s image, you can view the host in full screen.

Tapping the carrousel button enables you to toggle between viewing all members of the group OR just the host of the conference (e.g. the study conductor).

Content Sharing Only the host is able to share content (i.e., PDF

documents or power point presentations). Below is an image of a PDF that has been shared with

you by the Host.


Leaving a Meeting To leave a meeting, tap on the icon circled below

(which resembles an exit door), then tap ‘Leave Meeting.’


Singing Out You do not have to sign out of your Webex accoumt.

This way you do not have to go through the sign in process before every meeting.

However, if you wish to sign out, tap the icon on the top left of the screen and tap ‘Sign Out.’

Tap on the Amazon Kindle app on the homescreen of your iPad.


If you do not see this page then you are signed in. Skip to page 29.

If you do see this page, then you are not signed in. To sign in:

Identify your Amazon account email address and password on page 6

Once you’ve found your Amazon account information, press “Amazon account email address”

When the keyboard appears, type in your designated email address and password.


Once you’ve typed in your Amazon account email address and Amazon account password, press the “Sign In” button.


If you see this page (or a similar page with fewer items), then you have signed into your Amazon Kindle account!

Here you can see the items currently stored on your iPad Amazon Kindle (Your Device).


From this page, you can:

To begin reading a book or document:

If you tap in the absolute middle of the page you are on, you will see a header and footer appear. These

The menu enables you to quickly navigate your way through the entire book. See below for descriptions of some of the more useful options within the menu.


Go back to the Library where you can choose from other books or

documents

The Table of Contents allows you to navigate directly to your

preferred chapter

Location prompts you to enter a page number and enables you to

jump directly to that page

Using the tools in the top right of the header you can:

make while reading

Using the tools in the footer you can:

The scroll bar enables you to quickly navigate the text. Hold and drag the scroll

button

Now that you’ve identified all the tools in the header and footer, turn a few pages and learn how to take some notes! To turn the page:


Swipe from right to left. Just like turning the page

of a real book!

Now, you can learn how to highlight, take notes, and even look up the definitions of words using the free dictionary!

Highlighting: Step 1: Press and hold until you see the magnifying glass Step 2: Continue to hold and drag until you’ve highlighted the

words you want. Step 3: Release your finger, and view your highlights!


To remove any unwanted highlights, simply tap on the words you’ve highlighted and press the colored circle with the large “X”

Taking notes while reading: Step 1: Press and hold until you see the magnifying glass Step 2: Release your finger once you see the magnifying glass


Remove highlights

Step 3: Press the pencil icon, then you can begin to type your note!

Once you’ve finished writing you note, press the “save” button. When you are not editing your note, it will appear as a small, blue box within the text. To re-open your note, simply tap this small box.

To use the free dictionary, simply press and hold your finger on the word. Once you see the magnifying glass

you can release your finger. The definition will appear at the bottom of your screen.


Once you’ve finished your note taking, highlighting, and bookmarking, you can view your progress by pressing the notebook icon at the top right of your screen.

Here you can view every note, highlight, or bookmark you’ve made. By pressing the filter button you can filter these by type. You can also jump directly to the note, highlight or bookmark you’ve made by pressing the horizontal arrow underneath each comment bubble.


Settings: Registration : if you accidentally deregister your kindle, go

to the “iPad Account Information” section of this manual and

Send-to-kindle email address : if you wish to upload your own e-books or documents to this kindle, you can attach them in an email and send that email to the address that appears in your settings tab.
