Related Work
Several projects exploit semantic information.I Large portions of BBC website are run on Semantic Web
technologies..
Related projects:
I Science Environment for Ecological Knowledge (SEEK).I Semantic Prototypes in Research Ecoinformatics (SPIRE).I ETHAN Evolutionary Tree ontology.I DBpedia.

Data Sources and Mining
I Wealth of environmental data .I Result of big scientific projects across the world.I Structured or semi-structured data.
Our attention is on “Encyclopedia of Earth".

Is it really necessairy?
In our opinion, yes!I Because
1. it’s another brick in the wall of the so called “smart web"2. it can potentially assist in the prevention of fire break out,
pollution . . .3. it could be used in other scientific or commercial fields
(tourism, agriculture, weather forecasting. . . )I “. . . there is a continuous draught during the past years.
D@mn, we ’ve got to find new species to grow. . . ", author’suncle, farmer!!!

Future Work and Challenges
I It’s still work in progress.I Demos for future results.I Keep an eye on the web for new (better?) data sources.I Integration with existing semantic frameworks (Open
Linked Data?).
