Companies used one-way communication in corporate-speak much like a brochure

Yahoo! was king!

Anonymously increases peoples comfort level

Acts like an advertisement

Atom, a similar but alternative to RSS, works much in the same fashion

You can visit your favourite sites and look for the RSS link usually in the form of a picture like this

Social Bookmarking allows you to access your bookmarks anywhere

You can then share these bookmarks with yourself, your friends, or the world.

You can also use other peoples bookmarks to discover the best places on the web

Wisdom of Wikis

Wikis are websites that allow anybody to edit them think of it as a community bulletin board

Wikis often contain specialized, hard to find content that is not available elsewhere

Since anybody could edit the pages, wikis are not useful for academic reasons but can be useful for less restrictive purposes

Can often link to more authoritative sources

File sharing is a key component of Web 2.0 and many services have been created to share different kinds of files

Flickr (Photos), Youtube (Videos), Slideshare (PowerPoint Presentations), etc.
