2 WORKS FOR YOU STORM SHIELD SAFETY TIPSTORNADO SAFETYMOVE TO A PRE-DESIGNATED LOCATION:

• If an underground shelter is not available, move to an interior room on the lowest floor• Stay away from windows• In your car, do not try to outrun a tornado. Leave your car immediately. Lie flat in a ditch and

cover your head. If in a mobile home, leave immediately for a more substantial structure• If outdoors, lie flat in a nearby ditch or low lying area.• Do not take shelter under an overpass.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND LIGHTNING SAFETYIF YOU CAN HEAR THUNDER, YOU ARE CLOSE ENOUGH BE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.

• Go inside immediately!• Get out of the lake/pool and off of the water.• Get off the golf course and/or sports fields.• Stay away from windows.• Don’t bathe or shower.

FLOOD SAFETYTURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.

• Do not walk or drive through flooded areas or roadways.• Move to higher ground immediately. • If you do drive into flood waters, leave your vehicle immediately and seek high ground. Rapidly

rising water can easily sweep vehicles away.

IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OUTDOORS AND NO SHELTER IS NEARBY:• Find a low spot away from trees, fences and poles that is not subject to flooding.• Squat low to the ground on the balls of your feet. • Place your hands on your knees with your head between them. • Makes yourself the smallest target possible and minimize your contact with the ground.
