Only 36% of the districts in Florida earned a district grade of an A!

Only 11 districts have earned an A for the last three years!




• CCPS tied for the fifth highest percentage points (65%) earned, up from 33rd of 67 districts in 2011

• Of the thirteen districts with the highest percentage points in the state, CCPS has:

• the second largest student population (47,436)

• the largest number of English Language Learners-ELL (7,329)

• the second largest number of students eligible for free/reduced lunch (29,155)

• and the largest number of students identified as Migrant (3,066)

COLLABORATIVE FOR ACADEMIC, SOCIAL, AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING (CASEL)

Social emotional leaning (SEL) is the

process of developing and using the skills,

attitudes, and knowledge that help youth

• Collier County Sheriff’s Office Youth Relations Bureau (YRB) Deputies assigned to all schools

• CCPS also partners with the Naples Police Department and Marco Island Police Department

• Single point of entry

• Safety and Mental Health Awareness video for all employees

Enhanced School Security

• Single point of entry at all schools

• All classroom doors remain locked

Hurricane Irma Response

• 100% of schools CCPS could use as shelters were opened - a first in CCPS history!

• 28 schools - opened in 29 hours

• 20 schools - unable to be opened as they were within the projected storm surge area

• 5 schools - unable to be opened due to waste water treatment plant (septic – if electricity went out, unable to use restrooms)

• 180% increase of opened shelters – prior to Hurricane Irma, CCPS had never opened more than 10 schools as shelters or refuges

• Over 17,000 people stayed in CCPS shelters or refuges

• Majority of CCPS shelters were pet shelters – a first for CCPS

• Incredible outpouring of CCPS volunteers
