The construc on field is considered to be one of the most hazardous and aggressive industry, and it is extremely important to secure the health and safety of the workers in the field. Building Informa on Modelling (BIM) is usually associated with produc vity and team work; however, it is also playing a crucial role in improving the health and safety of the workers in the construc on field. If properly executed, BIM can transform the construc on safety making it more safe and secure. Below men oned are five different ways how BIM can boost the safety in the construc on industry.
Improved Hazard Preven on
BIM project models can help the project teams in detec ng and accordingly taking preven ve measures to avoid hazardous situa ons on site. They can quickly iden fy the areas that require special a en on through the advanced BIM so ware. For instance, a problema c roof or surface can be easily detected and accordingly fixed in advance before it turns dangerous for the field workers.
Synchroniza on of ac vi es On the Site
BIM helps in maintaining the coordina on between various construc on ac vi es on the field. The advanced BIM so ware allows its users to get all the data they require to finish their work as per the agreed specifica ons.
Prefabrica on and Standardiza on
P r e f a b r i c a o n has expanded the construc on business to a great extent and is projected to be universally
available in the coming future. Further, it is more likely to bring a posi ve influence on construc on safety. One can easily reduce the regular safety issues like falls, slips etc., by moving some of the construc on tasks to the factory or a warehouse. Further, prefabrica on can help in standardizing the construc on business thereby leaving a very small room of error.
Virtual Safety Tours
Virtual safety is considered to be one of the most powerful features of BIM. Presen ng a computer-generated construc on model helps the project agents to organize different project ac vi es without compromising with the safety. Moreover, the project teams
can easily examine different hypothe cal circumstances on site and accordingly come up with some prac cal solu ons thereby ensuring the workers' safety on the site.
Data- based Accident Examina on
BIM helps in analysing the accidents and searching for reasons that caused them. This approach helps in determining different poten als for the construc on sector in terms of enhancing the safety and avoiding the most common hazardous ac vi es on the site.
Overall, it can be said that the Building Informa on Model (BIM) can not only help in transforming the construc on business through its virtual project design, but can also ensure project safety. Its powerful features allow the project teams to virtually characterize every stage of the construc on project before it is broughtinto ac on. It helps inpredic ng andpreven ng construc onhazards.

obody is hidden from the gaining popularity of Electric vehicles nowadays. We all know that Electric Vehicles are likely to become the spine of the automobile industry. From Scooters to cars to Auto Rickshaws, every piece of the automobile is turning to be power-driven these days, thereby resis ng the use of fossil fuel energy.

Considering this increasing popularity of EVs, CADD Centre students have designed an electric hoverboard, which
is basically a two-wheeled self-balancing scooter that contains two electric wheels that are
connected with a pair of well-balanced pads on which the
rider places his/her feet. Recently one of the renowned RJ, RJ Syed
interacted with all the aspiring students who’ve been working on crea ng an Electric Hoverboard at CADD centre in Namma Chennai city. So let’s have a look at what they said about their learning experience at CADD centre so far.
How many months have you been working on this hoverboard project at
the CADD Centre? (Student: Vivek)
I joined CADD Centre in September 2019.
Ini ally, I enrolled myself for the automo ve designing course, but later, the faculty members suggested me to try my hand on the EV course, so I could get two streams of knowledge that will reward me in the future thereby giving me excellent job opportuni es. Since then I have been studying EV and have been working on this classic project.
Who has been your inspira on in Electric Vehicle technology?
Well, our inspira on was not a person, but rather it was the technology itself because whatever we are doing right now is going to affect the future genera on. And the kind of technology the Electric
vehicles adopt is sustainable and is likely to protect the environment in the mere future.
And that is the most intriguing part of EV that inspired all of us to pursue this
course.

So what are you going to do next with this sample design model?
So, a er comple ng the Design and analysis session, we give the shape to our theore cal knowledge by actually crea ng the real output (Hoverboard in this case). We have already made one Hoverboard and we’re in the process of crea ng the other one.
What have you guys created at CADD Centre so far?(Faculty: Jaffer)
We have worked on designing bikes, Go-Karts, and hoverboards. We have completed the concept of sketching and surface designing and alias. As
engineers, we believe in crea ng things from scratch, and CADD centre, unlike other ins tutes, gives their students this opportunity to put their ideas into ac on which is the most amazing and extraordinary thing about this ins tute.
In a nutshell, it can be said that electric vehicle is the future and our young genera on is all set to embrace it. The future is in safe hands and we can hope many more such cool technology will come alive in the next few years which will save our environment while enhancing our quality of life.
