Clover Flyer Family Newsletter Minooka News:

Minooka club stared out their September meeting with an ice-cream social. The feature student, Elizabeth, discussed her fair projects. We welcomed new members!

In October, our club painted pumpkins. We had two students featured, Oliver and Ignacio, who demonstrated their work from their fair projects. We had a field trip to the Waukesha Police Department. The S.W.A.T team members allowed us to try on their gear. The tour included viewing the jail cells, talking with dispatch, sitting in the Humvee, and meeting in the roll call room. We had our picture taken in front of a wall of police patches from around the United States.

4-Leaf News:

September's Meeting was our annual potluck dinner. We played ice breakers and each of the members had a chance to show and tell about their 4-h projects. October's meeting allowed us a chance to make ornaments from salt dough taught by Emily. Caroline taught us how to make cookies look like turkeys using fondant.

Cleveland Challengers: In August, we had our club open house where we displayed our fair projects, played games, and made some bead crafts. At our September meeting, we elected new officers and made paper weave bookmarks as a back to school project. Before our October meeting, we worked on weeding the library garden. Then we headed inside for our an-nual Halloween party. We made tootsie pop ghosts and had candy relay races and played a few more Halloween themed games. Later in the month, we had our Adopt-a-highway clean up along National Avenue and are now looking forward to the upcom-ing holidays.

Falls busy beavers:

At our October meeting we welcome to new member Alanna. Thank you to the members who shared their projects with us and congrats to our youth for their accomplishments last year! Our Club Banquet is scheduled for November 1st 6:30 PM.

The theme for our October Meeting was Culture in our community. The meeting ended with Fall games and a costume contest. The games included tossing marshmallows in cups with numbers in them, adding up your score, guessing how many candy corns were in a jar, a word search, some exercises. Reading strategies and some math skills were used as our educational part of the meeting along with organizational skills and time management and social skills practiced.

Green N Growing:

We held our annual Halloween potluck and party at our October club meeting.

Our next 2018-19 Green n Growing 4-H club meeting will be held on November

13th at 6:30 pm at Merton Primary School! Please arrive early at 6 pm to begin

decorating holiday cards. Bring any supplies that you have to help create new holi-

day cards from recycled ones (old cards, scissors, markers, stickers, cardstock). We

will have some more time to continue making cards after the meeting. The finished

cards will be handed out to the seniors at our caroling event in December. We will

be having a very special guest speaker talk to our club after the meeting: You don’t

want to miss this!

Muckey: 4-H will be getting together for their November meeting on Monday, the 12th, at the Muskego Library. The meeting will be followed by a potluck dinner and ice cream social. We ask that all attending bring a non perishable food item for the food pantry. Our December meeting will be held on Monday the 10th at Country Lanes bowling alley in Franklin. The meeting will be followed by bowling.

Horse Association News:

New officers were appointed along with a new officer position (communication office), hayride and pumpkin picking at the Tessman farm in October. We will be preparing for Trim a Tree in November and looking for-ward to decorating at the zoo and earning money for a family in need at the food stand for Santa comes to Dousman. (first Sunday in December). The club also participated in helping to host a food stand at the equine hospital open this month.

Drone Project:

From the beginning we've tried to remove the bad image everybody has about drones. We are teaching drone setup, control, and that they can have a purpose. All the participants, including some parents, are hopefully learn something new each month. There are new and seasoned pilots alike in the group. Everybody helps each other out in times of need. As young as 7 years old flying drones in a controlled and safe environment. We try to bring real life situations to light during the classes to show the increasing benefit of drones. And as always, everybody enjoys there time with other enthusiasts.

RIFLE / PISTOL

Practices started on Monday, October 29th, for rifle, air rifle, pistol & air pistol. Practices are held every Monday night, and will run through March, at the indoor range at Hillcrest Park (the old Nike Site), 2119 Davidson Road, Waukesha. Starting time is 7:00 PM. Depending on the numbers that show up each night, practice sessions may have to be alternated each week due to only 8 shooting lanes available, OR plan on a longer night to give everyone a chance to shoot! We will stay there until everyone has had a chance to shoot.

Be sure to check out to the Project page for more

information on meeting dates: https://www.waukeshacounty.gov/UWEX/4H/Projects/
