To calculate the capacity of your systemFit the pressure regulator (2760) to the tap. With the tap fully on, fill a bucketand count the number of seconds it takes to fill. Multiply the number of litresyour bucket holds by 3600, and divide by the number of seconds it took to fill. This will give the maximum flow rate per hour.
Each outlet has a flow rate. For example: Microjets use 55 litres/hour, therefore witha maximum flow rate of 2160 l/h, the maximum number useable is 39 (2160 55).
Now fill in your own calculation: (litres) x 3600 (seconds) = l/h
Example: A 9 litre bucket filled in 15 seconds: (litres) 9 x 3600 15 (seconds) = 2160 l/h

Connects system to tap
Always use a pressure regulator
The tap connection is vital. It connects the automatic watering system to themains water supply. There are three different ways to make this connection.
Always use a pressure reducer to control the water pressure to ensure thebest performance.
All installations below can be automated by adding a Hozelock water computer.
ABC Guide to Automatic Watering
RemoteConnection
To make a remoteconnection to theautomatic wateringsystem, make aconnector hose withhose end connectors ateach end of some good
quality garden hose.Screw an adaptor to thepressureregulatorthen click-fittogether.Attach to atap with athreaded tapconnector.
DirectConnection
To make a directconnection to theautomatic wateringsystem, screw thepressure regulatordirectly onto youroutside tap or

DRIPPERSCYou can fit any combination of Drippers, Microjets and Mini Sprinklers, dependingon the plants and where you want to water. Choose the best drippers for yourneeds from the table below.
The length of time your system needs to run for will depend on several factors,eg, the time of year, the weather and the type of plants.
Experiment until you get the best performance from your system.

You need paper, a pencil, some coloured pens and
a long tape measure.
Use the paper to sketch thearea where you are going
to build the system. Note thedimensions as you measure.Transfer the measurements tothe squared paper afterwards.
Measure (preferably inmetres and centimetres) andmark on your sketch:
- The fixed elements - house, outside tap etc.
- Distance from outside tapto start of system
- Length of fences, walls, beds where supply tubeand micro tube will run.
- Key planting areas -container groups, thirsty
and precious plants,seedlings etc.
- Any obstacles, e.g. paths ordriveways.
- Height of fence panels, walls etc if hanging basketsare to be watered.
Carefully transfer yourmeasurements to thesquared paper. Dependingon the size of the area, useone of the following scales:
Draw the supply tube, showing angles and jointsfor connectors.
Plan in flow control valveswhere supply tube is likelyto be longer than 50m, oruse two Aqua Control timersand a four-way tapconnector (see page 6).
Using a different colour, show the lines of micro-tubing.
Mark the outlets, usingdifferent coloured pens for
each type (see page 10 fortable of drippers).
Count up the outlets, connections, fixings andlength of tubing andcomplete your shopping list.
