The best urban environments come alive when the community’s civic and commercial activities are addressed holistically
Lessons Learned
Planning initiatives advance by favoring accomplishment
When progress is made visible, consensus around progressive design is easier to achieve
Contemporary initiatives need not obliterate history, even as they transform the land into a civic amenity
Context – both the natural and built - is as critical as the site
Successful plans are those that correctly envision what is eventually realized – by anticipating the needs of those who will build and occupy the finished project
