Water Sustainable Cities Index10 November 201516

ResiliencyQualityEfficiency

Arcadis 2015Cities are responsible for protecting their citizens from pollutants and disease, as well as from destructive storm surges and flooding, but increasingly, cities are challenged and vulnerable to these quality of life issues.

Each of the 50 cities included in this index have distinctive water relationships that helped shape their urban character and define their commercial identity. ranked each of these cities against three pertinent criteria: resiliency, efficiency and quality

This extension of our annual Sustainable Cities Index addresses solely the issue of water. Through it we are evaluating the worlds urban centers on the stewardship of their water assets. That is to say, we are analyzing the quality of their waterways and delivered water, as well as the efficiency of their water systems and the resiliency of their water defenses and infrastructure.
