5. Future role of Industry within the integrated response program: Key messages
(A) Water for industry: shift from the conventional understanding of the water system
(B) Water for industry within the integrated water system: natural and human systems integration
(C) Water for industry within the broader and integrated framework: Future Role of Industry:
The water system: Scarce resource (freshwater) Transboundary Several uses and users (economic,
social and environmental values) Governance, institutional, Political Increased future demands but less
resources due to: climate change, population growth, resource degradation, economic growth, living standards change
etc
Evaluate water-related risks Evaluate climate-related risks Take Actions:
WR management-investment in water sources Integrate water, energy, land, ecosystem
resources Water use-efficiency-Industrial water footprint Circular economy-reduce, re-use, recycle Good corporate governance and policy Stakeholder collaboration and engagement Introduce new technologies to better manage
water resources, give more integrated solutions
