7 CONSCIOUS CAPITALISM | WASHINGTON, D.C.

“We believe that business is good because it creates value, it is ethical because it is based on voluntary exchange, it is noble because it can elevate our existence and it is heroic because it lifts people out of poverty and creates prosperity. Free enterprise capitalism is the most powerful system for social cooperation and human progress ever conceived. It is one of the most compelling ideas we humans have ever had. But we can aspire to even more.

Conscious Capitalism is a way of thinking about capitalism and business that better reflects where we are in the human journey, the state of our world today, and the innate potential of business to make a positive impact on the world. Conscious businesses are galvanized by higher purposes that serve, align, and integrate the interests of all their major stakeholders. Their higher state of consciousness makes visible to them the interdependencies that exist across all stakeholders, allowing them to discover and harvest synergies from situations that otherwise seem replete with trade-offs. They have conscious leaders who are driven by service to the company’s purpose, all the people the business touches, and the planet we all share together.

VALUES-BASED ETHICAL PRINCIPLESBecause the very nature of CCDC is as an organization dedicated to fostering the adoption of Conscious Capitalism and promoting integrity in business affairs, it is particularly important to the reputation of CCDC for its Partners to adhere to the following values-based ethics principles: (Adapted from Conscious Capitalism San Diego)

1. Avoid the appearance of impropriety. Even if it doesn’t violate the law, perception is very powerful.

2. Never put private gain above public good. Don’t go close to the line. The farther away from the line, the easier it is to avoid the appearance of impropriety.

3. Live your life with humility. Never underestimate your capacity for self-deception. Surround yourself with friends and family who will remind you if you have deceived yourself.

4. Honor CCDC is not a political platform, rather a movement of social connectedness and contribution.

CCDC reserves the right to terminate the relationship (without refund) with Partners that:

1. Do not adhere to the Code of Conduct and Ethical Principles.

2. Do not uphold the values of CCDC.

3. Do not support the mission of CCDC.

4. Advocate or encourage expressions of violence, bigotry, racism, hatred or profanity

5. Repeatedly interact unprofessionally or unreliably with CCDC representatives

Further, it is important that the Partners of CCDC uphold the Vision, Mission, and Credo of Conscious Capitalism, Inc and that of Conscious Capitalism Washington, D.C.
