Group Work1. With 2-3 other students, review your

notes for chapter 7. Pay close attention this time to the character’s motivation.

2. Based on what all group members have written down, assess the stage at which you feel Holden is operating in chapter 7. Have at least two quotations to support your claim (if the ones that you found for homework apply, then use those!).

Kohlberg’s Theory/Usefulness of the theoriesYou have been introduced to three psychological theories that we will use to better understand characters in texts. Over the next few days, we will assess each theory’s usefulness for our purposes.1. Create a new page in your journal.2. Title it “Usefulness of Psychological Theories.”3. Create four columns.4. Title the Leftmost column “Kohlberg Moral Development.”5. In this column, answer these questions:

Can you describe this theory in 1-2 sentences? If so, do it! On a scale of 1-5, 5 being the most useful, assess how helpful this

theory is in helping you to better understand the characters. Write a quick explanation.

Label 1-2 aspects that are helpful to you, and anything about this theory that makes it less useful to you.
