ADULT FITNESSSmall Group Personal Training/Personal TrainingStay motivated and committed to your fitness plan with a certified personal trainer challenging you the entire way! A trainer will add a fresh approach to your workout and develop an exercise program designed to your specific needs. Our trainers will: • Help you establish realistic and

attainable goals,• Develop an exercise program

specific to your individual needs, health status and limitations,

• Provide positive encouragement, motivation and accountability,

• Help you reduce the risk of injury by learning proper training technique.

YOUTH FITNESSYouth Fitness OrientationGetting healthy starts at an early age. This program is designed to educate youths ages 11-17 to learn the basics of the Cybex weight machines, cardio equipment, gym etiquette and the benefits of nutrition and exercise. When they have completed this course, they will be able to use the Fitness Center.

GROUP EXERCISE INCENTIVE CHALLENGEJanuary 6-March 31Take the first step in becoming a healthier version of you by challenging yourself to exercise with our Group Exercise Challenge.

Just register at the Welcome Desk and then attend various Group Exercise Classes totaling 25 times each month in January, February and March. Attend enough classes and you will receive a YMCA t-shirt at the end of the challenge and be registered for a gift card drawing.

At time of registration, each participant will receive a punch card to track progress during the challenge.

Fee: $5 Members Only

Winter Boot Camp: January 6-February 28This class is a group physical training program designed to help participants build strength, endurance, flexibility and overall fitness through a variety of exercises. This fast-paced, calorie burning class is geared toward most fitness levels. Modifications are always offered for the beginner to the advanced. This class offers support, accountability and camaraderie. Class Limit: 40

Child Watch Child Watch is supervised play for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years, while parents exercise at the Y. Parents must remain in the building. Child Watch Hours are: Monday-Friday, 8:30-11 a.m. and Monday-Thursday, 5-7 p.m.

Jr. Bluejays Skills Drillz Volleyball CampJan. 17 — Passing/Setting Feb. 17 — Hitting/SettingMarch 9 — Serving

Grades: 5-8 Time: 5:30-7 p.m. Class limit: 30

Member Fee: $10 each session or $25 all threeNon-Member Fee: $15 each session or $40 for all threeCurrent club players or players working on developing skills will benefit from this camp. Coach Devin will provide instruction to each participant within a camp-like setting. Groups may be split up between skill levels. Players will learn to consistently serve overhand, hit with more power and perfect setting and passing.

Jr. Bluejays Fundamental Volleyball (Mini Session) Tues./Thurs., March 24-April 2 Grades: 1-4 Class limit: 40Time: 5:45-6:30 p.m.Fee: $25 M/$40 NM plus $20 Jr. Bluejays shirt if needed

Hit the courts with the folks that invented the sport – the Y! This program will teach passing, serving and hitting while emphasizing sportsmanship and teamwork. This is a great program to introduce kids to the sport of volleyball. Kids will develop self-confidence and social skills through encouragement from coaches, parents and other children.

Just Getting Started (K-1) BasketballSaturdays, Jan. 11-Feb. 8 Grades: K-1 This program gets kids ready for league play. The focus is on learning the fundamentals of dribbling, passing and shooting in a fun and controlled setting. Practice and games will be on Satur-day afternoons. Volunteer coach helpers welcome.

Register by Jan. 7 Fee: $25 M/$45 NM plus $20 Jr. Bluejay jersey if needed.

Small Fry (Preschool) BasketballTuesdays, Jan. 14-Jan. 28 Time: 5:30-6:15 p.m. Ages: 4-5 Young children can develop friendships and basketball fundamentals while learning teamwork and sportsmanship in this small fry basketball program. Skills taught will include passing, shooting and dribbling. Volunteer coaches needed. Register by Jan. 7 Fee: $25 M/$35 NM plus $20 Jr. Bluejay jersey if needed.

Jr. Bluejays Basketball LeagueJanuary 25-February 29 Grades: 2-6 Develop fundamental basketball skills while learning teamwork, strategy and sportsmanship. Games will be played in Blair. Skills taught include passing, shooting, dribbling and the rules of the game of basketball. Volunteer coaches needed. Register two weeks prior to start date. Fee: $45 M/$65 NM plus jersey if needed.

Youth Leadership SummitThursdays, Jan. 30-Feb. 27 Time: 5:30-6:15 p.m. Grades: 5-6 Register by 1/23 Fee: $25 M/$50 NMStudents will see the world from a new perspective and learn to be more effective leaders and team members. Youth will be submerged into Leadership Discovery and Personality Trait Assessment sessions followed by leadership development.

Incredible Wearables!Friday, Feb. 7 (Blair Schools Out for Parent/Teacher Conferences) Time: 10-11:30 a.m. Grades: 4-8 Limit: 30 Fee: $10 M/$15 NM Register by Feb. 1In this class, youth will build and design a wearable fitness tracker and then will use their sales and marketing skills to sell us on why their design is the best.

NEW! Kids in the Kitchen (KIK)Mondays, Jan. 27-March 6Time: 4-4:45 p.m. (ages 6-9_) 5-5:45 p.m. (ages 10-15) Register by Jan. 20 Class limit: 15Fee: $10 M/$20 NM KIK is designed to give hands-on cooking experiences. Each lesson contains recipes, handouts, physical activities, visual aids and is taught by local Dietitian Jordan Luxa from the Nebraska Extension office. Children will learn food prep and food safety skills along with nutritional information with the goal of being able to take the lessons learned and plan their own healthy meal! If transportation is an issue, simply enroll your child in drop-in childcare and we will transport them to the class on Mondays.

Our parent/child swim lessons are designed to help parents and their children become comfortable and have fun in the water. Enjoy special time with your little one as children learn basic water safety and skills like blowing bubble and kicking to get them ready for advanced swimming. Please have child wear a waterproof swim diaper under his/her clothing. Parent, please wear a swimsuit and bring a towel.

The Blair Family YMCA provides boys and girls an opportunity to participate in a competitive swimming program that will focus on stroke development and having fun in the water. Swimmers must be able to proficiently swim the length of the pool (25 yards) to compete on swim team. According to league regulations, one must be a member of the YMCA to participate on swim team and be a member 30 days prior to first meet participation.

Pickle ball is a fun game that is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches. Enjoy learning and playing this game in drop-in pickle ball. No registration necessary.

This Tai Chi class for older adults is a gentle exercise also known as a “moving mediation” that helps improve balance and helps prevent falls. It empowers a person so they feel more confident in daily activities. Tai Chi improves a person’s mental and social well being.
