Objective:Scholars will be introduced to the Age of Exploration and visually represent explorers vocabulary words and their meanings and will take an assessment to demonstrate their knowledge.

Explorer A person who investigates unknown regions
Expedition A journey made for a specific purpose.
Trade Route A course, way, or road for passage or travel for traders.
Glory Honor, fame, admiration.
Convert (religion) To switch to another religion.
Imperialism The practice of one country controlling the government and economy of another country or territory.
Cartography The study and creation of maps.
Cartographer Someone who studies or makes maps.
Silk Road An ancient trade route by land between Asia and Europe.
Caravel A Spanish or Portuguese ship that was able to sail against the wind.
Empire A group of colonies ruled by the same country.
Colony A group of people who leave their native country to settle in a new place, but are still connected to their native country.
Colonization The control by one power over a dependent area of people; to control a colony.
Inhabitant A person or animal that lives in a place.
Indigenous Native of a region; an original inhabitant.
Civilize To educate; To bring out of a savage state.
Slave A person who is forced to do hard labor with no freedom.
Epidemic A disease affecting many people at the same time.
