Keeping Our Schools COVID-SafeNSW Health and the Department of Education have provided all schools with new advice to keep
our students, sta and the wider community safe. To ensure our schools continue to operate in
the current environment, a number of measures are now in place. Key messages from the
Department of Education are summarised below.
For Students
Continue to regularly wash hands and continue to bring a water bottle each day.
Students must not attend school if they are unwell, including even minor u-like symptoms.
If students are absent due to u-like illness or develop u-like symptoms while at school, a
negative COVID-19 test result must be sighted by the school before students return and they
must be symptom free.
There will be no choir or group wind instrument activities.
There will be changes to interschool sport and extracurricular activities.
For Parents and Community
Parents, carers and non-essential visitors are not allowed on the school site.
Parent-teacher interviews are to be conducted using technology, e.g. phone, email or Zoom.
Parents and carers must not send children to school who are unwell, even with very mild
symptoms.
If attending the site to collect unwell children, parents and carers must sign the visitor
acknowledgement forms.
Parents must physically distance from one another and from school sta when dropping o or
picking up their children from school.
We request that parents and carers please contact our school oce before attending the school.
This will enable our administration sta to best support parents and to discuss how individual
matters can be managed without the need to attend the school site. Further details about changes
will continue to be provided through our newsletter and Skoolbag app. Thank you to all in our
considerate community for your ongoing support in keeping our children and sta safe, and
enabling the safe operation of our school.
Tell Them From Me SurveysThe Tell Them From Me suite of surveys help schools measure student engagement and
wellbeing. This term we are using the Tell Them From Me surveys to capture the voices of our
parents, sta and students, to provide reliable evidence for our school in identifying strengths
and areas for improvement. The parent survey is anonymous and individuals cannot be identied
from the information they provide.
Last year, only 28 parents completed the survey. To give us more accurate information, we really
encourage all our parents to complete the online survey. The survey is available in 22 community
languages and parents are welcome to contact the school for support in completing the survey,
particularly if needing access to a device. The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete and
can be accessed here: http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/wamb2020.
If you would like more information about the parent survey, please visit the Department of
Education’s CESE site here.
Have a wonderful week everyone.

Positive Behaviour for LearningAt Wamberal Public School, we are safe, respectful learners. This week, all students have been
learning about doing the ‘High 5’.
This week’s newsletter report is presented by Evie.
Bullying is never ok. It’s hurtful and can impact someone for a long time. Remember, you’re not
alone. There are people you can talk to and things you can do to stop the bullying. No problem is
too big or too small.

PBL Rewards Menu for Term 3Our PBL Rewards Menu is informed by feedback from our students about the types of rewards
they would like to work towards each term. The Term 3 PBL Rewards Menu has been developed
using the feedback from our students. The menu is now available in all classrooms and a copy is
available for our parents and community on our school website. We thank our P&C for their
ongoing support of our positive behaviour initiatives and specically for the sponsorship of the
prizes in the lucky draw.
Collaborative TeachingTeacher collaboration through sharing ideas, discussing teaching techniques and reecting on
student work is a highly eective way of ensuring we are continually improving our ability to
deliver great lessons. This week, teachers in adjacent classrooms have been trialling dierent
successful models of ‘co-teaching’ such as teaming, station teaching and parallel teaching. As
well as benetting from the expertise of two teachers, students are having eective collaboration
modelled.
Mrs Tadman and Mr Raft co-taught a lesson on place value utilising our outdoor learning spaces.
K2021 EnrolmentsWe have been very excited to begin our Kindergarten 2021 enrolment interviews. This year we are
meeting all of our new students and families via video conference. While this presents its own
challenges, it also has the benet of providing a very relaxed environment to meet our newest
Wamberal students. Starting school is a signicant event in the life of children and their families,
and strong relationships between families and schools help support a successful transition
process. If you, or someone you know, has a child who is beginning kindergarten next year,
please visit our website for enrolment details. We look forward to welcoming our new and
returning families whose children are starting this exciting phase of their lives.
Have a great week everyone.

week)! Students who are still completing their reading goals will have access to add to their
online PRC records until August 28. Students may add titles read at home and in class, as well as
in the Library. Because COVID19 restrictions aected access to books during 2020, the PRC rules
were modied to allow students better access to books.

Currently reading CBCA title Beowulf by Michael Morpurgo 😐
I loved reading Morpurgo’s Kensuke’s Kingdom and TOTO The Wizard of Oz as Told by the Dog.
However, my expectations for Beowulf were way too high. Disappointing. What do you think?
