P.A.W.S. Corner with Ms. Adams

I can't believe that we are halfway through second semester! Our students are working hard to make good choices to follow P.A.W.S. every day to reach our goal of 8 days without any negative referrals. We are working together as a team to earn 3 more days to reach our goal for our incentive, “March Madness Mania.” Please encourage your students to continue doing their personal best in following P.A.W.S. everywhere they go by being promptly prepared, acting respectfully, working hard, and most importantly, staying safe. Some things you can ask your student are, "How did you follow P.A.W.S. today?", "What was something kind that you did today?" or "How did you do your personal best today?" Here’s to a great end of the third quarter and an even better fourth quarter!

Happy March! There are many things going on this month, please make sure to check your child’s backpack and homework folders and review any highlighted areas on their third quarter test. We will be having parent teacher conferences on March 12th and 13th. These are half days and the students will be dismissed at noon. This month, we will be learning about blends (i.e. –ss or –ll at the end of words) and digraphs (i.e. th, sh, wh, and ch). Sight words for March include “said, when, down, so, were, what, could, now, who, and your”. We’re also introducing addition and subtraction. Please encourage your child to work on these skills at home while they are doing their homework. Keep an eye out for more information on the Color Run, a field trip to see “The Little Mermaid”, and a field trip to Las Milpitas farm.

First grade will be going on a field trip to the Tucson Botanical Gardens on Wednesday, March 11th. We will be looking for parent volunteers to go with us. Only students who have completed all their assignments and have appropriate behavior, up to the field trip, will be allowed to attend. We have also noticed a lot of children are needing reminders about respectful behavior, listening skills, and what is appropriate at school. Please talk with your children and ask about their school day. It would also be beneficial to remind them in the morning about

having respectful behavior before they arrive at school. Spring conferences will be conducted in a couple weeks. Please be sure to attend the conference that we schedule. If you are unable to attend, please call the office to reschedule. If you are scheduled for a conference, we will not be sending the report card home until we meet. Hello Families! We hope you had a wonderful Rodeo Break! Third grade is looking forward to the month of March. We have completed our district assessments in reading and math, and are now on the countdown to our final Az-Merit state test! This test will be given the last week of March and will cover all of the content taught throughout the school year. The best ways to

help prepare your child for this test is to make sure they are on time and at school each day, completing all homework assignments, and reading a good book each and every night! If you would like to donate healthy snacks for the week of testing, please contact your child’s teacher. Finally, thank you for encouraging your child to demonstrate their personal best each and every day!

Sixth Grade News Students will be taking the AzMERIT at the end of this month. Please help us prepare your child for this important assessment at home! Make sure students are regularly getting a good night sleep, eating a healthy breakfast every morning, and arriving to school on time. Creating these routines now will ensure that your child is rested and ready for this assessment. Also, students who are late during testing week will be sent to an alternative classroom and will have to make up the test on another day, so please make sure students are here on time and well

rested. Lastly, students will be going on a field trip at the end of April. The fee for this field trip is $10. Students can start bringing in their money now to the front office. Permission slip will be going home soon, so please be on the lookout. Thank you for your continued support!

Happy March, Bulldog Family! It's a big month for us, let's talk about it. The biggest thing this month is our Color Run! There are 3 things you *NEED* to know: Money is due by FRIDAY 3/13 (lucky!) The color run is on THURSDAY 3/27! WE NEED VOLUNTEERS. Sponsorships are available, and any gifts are helpful, but volunteers are really what make this event work. Come be a fun and exciting part of your child's elementary school experience! To find out more, come to our meeting,

Wednesday 3/4, 2:30pm on campus. The next biggest thing this month is our Festival Under the Stars booth at the high school. This year's game will be flight-themed, just like our shiny new building! Fun. No more dinosaurs to fight... we will all miss you, silly inflatable dinosaur costume. R.I.P. The third thing this month is that HOLY COW ITS MARCH! This school year has really "flown" by. It's "plane" to see the year is almost over. We're "floating" with anticipation for our new school. As we "jet" to the last day of school, let's keep our spirits high in the sky. If you have any questions about the color run or any other PTO business, call or text me at 668-6922. Helicopter.
