WALRUS FACTS They are extremely social and snort bellow

loudly at their companions. They are quiet aggressive during mating season.

They use their tusks to pull there self's out of frigid waters and seem to walk with them.

They use their whiskers to find their favorite foods.

Walruses are so loud, their sometimes called the loudest mouths in the Arctic.

FACTS CONTINUED Males have special air sacs that are used to

make a bell like sound. They carry their babies for a very long 15-16

months. They are able to turn their hind flippers

forward to aid in movement on land. The tusks can be more than 3 feet long in

males and about 2 ½ feet long in females.

SEAL STATS Weight: Males-375 lbs. Female-330 lbs. Height: Males- 6.6 ft. Female- 5.6 ft. Habitat: Cobble or Sandy Beaches, Rocky

Reefs, Tidal Mudflats and Sandbars along the coast or in bays or Estuaries.

Lifespan: 25 to 30 yrs Diet: Squid, Crustaceans, Mollusks, and Fish

SEAL FACTS Seal’s can go for 40 minutes without a breath

which allows them to dive over 2,000 feet. Seals are well designed to swim in water. Seals are very clumsy and slow on land. Seals carry their young for a long 12 months Seal pups develop very rapidly, some pups

are able to swim a couple hours after birth. There are 33 knows species of seals today

FACTS CONTINUED Seals are highly intelligent animals and they

have been used in a variety of conservation programs such as those at Sea World.

However, they are still wild animals. They have been known to bite and to attack humans that get too close to them. This is due to their natural instinct to protect themselves, their young, and their surroundings.

FACTS CONTINUED Seals are considered mammals because they

provide milk to their young, until they can get there own food.

They are warm blooded also, which is why they depend on their layers of fat to keep them warm.

One of the most common type of seal would be the Grey Seal. There are more of them than any other, and their numbers seem to increase annually.

MAIN DIFFERENCES The main difference between a Walrus and a

Seal is the Walrus’s Tusk. Another difference is the Size, Walrus’s are

quiet larger than the seal including their weight and height.
