    Welcome to Our World

Inside an 1880’s Philadelphia textile mill not far from the Schuylkill River, you’ll

find us busy in our studio, the heart and soul of our business. It’s here where we

turn the ideas that inspire us into pattern and color. It’s here where our community of artisans works together to print fabrics

and wallpapers of original design and exceptional quality. And it’s here where we share our lives working side by side

    creating and making beautiful things.

This Wallpaper Portfolio presents the full range of our Wallpaper Collection and provides detailed information about all

of our patterns and color ways. It opens a window into our design

process and reveals how we approach creating our patterns. And if you’re looking to customize our wallpaper,

we’ve included almost everything you need to know.

Installation shots and close-ups of our wallpapers are featured throughout these

pages, including stunning photos from some of our favorite interior designers.

Thanks for your interest in our studio... and enjoy the book!

HAND BLOCK PRINTING is the core of our business and always the starting point for our patterns. Here our

Birds pattern is inked up with 5 colors in a painterly fashion before being pressed onto linen.

The process is deceptively simple… and surprisingly nuanced.

    ESTRELLA IN GUAVA

The design process is still a mystery to me. While traveling in Japan, I stumbled on a book of Paraguayan textiles. This became the

starting point for Estrella, and the carving of woodblocks began. After playing with scale, levels of complexity,

and color - this is where we landed - with the help of a deadline, of course!

SURROUND YOURSELF We often match fabric to wallpaper or wallpaper to fabric. The steps are explained on our website and in the custom

section on page 112. The tools are there and the process is easy… so surrender to one

    pattern and surround yourself!

DIVE IN Koi Pond went through many stages.

The process is what I enjoy… Watching the patterns evolve, emerge, and find their voice. This pattern is a mashup of a photo I took of a koi pond, a print of antique seaweed from a flea market,

my passion for Japanese prints, and my love of Leo Lionni’s

    children’s book Swimmy. LIZ GALBRAITH

First we imagine a color and start mixing… is it too yellow, should it be brighter, clearer, muddier, more

    A WORLD OF COLOR

At Galbraith & Paul, we create our own colors and mix our own paint. Over the years, we’ve built a recipe book of more than 350 colors varied enough to work with any style and mood.

For some rooms, our colors are the starting point, what everything else is designed around. For others, they are the last piece of the puzzle that makes it all complete. Either way, our wide-ranging palette of standard and custom colors will bring your project to life.
