WAFER Butterfly type (Sandwich Type)Butterfly valves starts, stops and regulates flow with the help of positioning the disc against flow. The disc stays in fluid during

application, but special design and construction of the disc reduces the flow resistance to a minimum. Butterfly valve applications are

easy and economic than most of other valve types, since this model is basic with less number of parts. Maintenance and service of

butterfly type is considered to be easy due to relatively low unit weight of these valves.

Technical / Manufacturing Standards:FAF Butterfly valves are manufactured according to related ISO, EN and GOST standards.

Valves: EN 593

Flanges: ISO 7005-2, EN 1092-2

Face to Face dimensions: EN 558-1

FAF offers Wafer and Lug type for butterfly valves. These two types are manufactured with same material, GG25 Body, stainless

steel disc, stainless steel stem etc. Both types can be supplied with EPDM, NBR or VITON seats according to the customer request.

Major difference bentween Wafer and Lug type butterfly valves, is their connection method. This difference results different

application areas for two types.

FAF 3500 Series Wafer Type Butterfly ValvesButterfly valves are connected to the pipeline from the holes (lugs) surrounding the body. For wafer type, these holes are not circle

and not threaded inside. The holes are suitable for both PN 10 and PN 16 flange connections. Since connection holes are not

threaded this type must always be used between two flanges, therefore this type cannot be used as end-valve at the end of a

pipeline.

FAF 3600 Series Lug Type Butterfly ValvesLug type construction looks the same as wafer types but one important difference results different application areas. Lug type

butterfly valves are also connected to the pipeline from the holes surrounding the body. Different than wafer type, for lug type the

holes are threaded. Instead of studs, bolts must be used in order to install this type to the pipeline. Since the bolts holds the valve from

both directions, if the flange on one side of the valve is detached the valve will still hold. Because of this important feature this valve

can be used as end-valve on an end of a pipeline. Again due to this feature this type can only be installed between PN 16 flanges.

Advantages of Wafer/Lug Type Butterfly Valves• Generally these valves are prefered because this type is economic. The distance between the flanges is shorter than other types,

which makes valve lighter and more economic than others.

• Seat of the valve covers not only the valve port but also the connection area between body and pipe flange. Because of its

construction there's no need for additional gasket for installation.

• The seat perfectly covers the iron valve port. Valve body does not contact with the fluid which results less rust and longer service

life.

• The stem is also protected from direct contact with the fluid.

• Construction of butterfly valves does not have spaces, which fills with liquid during close position (such as ball valves)

• The valve operates with quarter turn of the stem. Open and close position of the valve can be realized easily.

• Butterfly valves are supplied with EPDM seat. EPDM satisfies general requirements of most of the applications, and it can easily be

replaced if deformed

• EPDM seats can be replaced with NBR or VITON for specific applications.

• The valves can be automated. They're easily used with pneumatic or electrical actuators.
