Kick-Master Kumite Rules Kick-Master Kumite is for those youngsters 10 Years and below. It consists of each competitor

simultaneously attacking their respective red or blue kick post for 25 seconds. The winner will be

decided using the criteria for decision in a kumite match, as outlined below

b) The superiority of tactics and techniques displayed

c) Which of the contestants has initiated the majority of the actions

Kumite Rules All matches to be 1½ minutes

Kata Rules

Any kata from the official WKF list is permissible. Bunkai is not required in team events!

All first round competitors to be Aka, all finalists to be Ao.

All categories which could include novice grades may repeat their kata. These include KA1, KA2,

KA5, KA9, KA12, KA15, KA16, KA18, & KA20.

All categories which will not include novice grades must perform different kata for each performance.

These include KA3, KA4, KA6, KA7, KA8, KA10, KA11, KA13, KA14, KA17, & KA19.

We feel that competitors would benefit from a system comparable to that of the current WKF points

rules, rather than the previous flag system. As such, all categories at this competition will be run using

a points system. For logistical reasons we are not in a position to run the full WKF rules, so we have

devised a similar method which does at least help prepare your students for the future. We also feel

that our method is the fairest available, ensuring that larger populated categories are broken down into

smaller groups, in a similar method to that of the WKF. Each sub group of a category will then select

the top 2 or 3 competitors to progress to the final, as per the table below.

In all kata categories, 1st 2nd & 3rd place medals will be presented. Ties will be separated where

necessary by the performance of an additional and different kata, taking into account the above rules

on the number of different kata required for that particular category. Ties for 3rd place in a final will

be awarded joint 3rd place, with no additional kata being required. Ties for 1st & 2nd in any first

round will see both competitors progress to the final in their original round 1 performance order, with

no additional kata being required.

All categories will be run over two rounds. The finalists will be the 2 or 3 highest scoring competitors

from their respective groups, as per the table below. Groups will be constructed according to the

number of entrants in any given category.

All groups from a single category will be contested on the same tatami. It should be noted that each

group will be contested in its own right, with the top 2 or 3 competitors from each group progressing

to the final, as per the table below.

Scores from the individual groups within a category will not be amalgamated to decide the

finalists.

2019 Amendments

Kata

The President of Wado UK John Moreton would like to add 2 additional

categories to our event, these both being disabled kata categories. The 1st will

be for those competitors of any age, grade and gender who require the

assistance of a wheelchair, and the 2nd for those of any age, grade and gender

who are able to perform without wheelchair assistance. Though these categories

are not on the entry form itself, they can be added to your entry form

submission with the following codes. WDK1, or DK1, where the W signifies

wheelchair. Please note that the rule preventing competitors from stepping up to

contest other categories still applies.

We will also cater for those coaches wishing to enter these additional categories

on the day.

Kumite

Where a team kumite match requires a deciding bout due to a mathematical

draw, a coin toss will decide which coach decides which gender should contest

the additional match. This means if he or she selects the female competitor of

their team, the opposing team must also select their female competitor. If he or

she decides on a male member from their team, the opposing team can then

select from their two male team-members.

Parking

There is free parking at the venue spread across various areas of the campus.

Catering

The Hull University will be offering catering on the day, which is suggested

will include a couple of hot options, as well as stocked fridges with sandwiches,

salads and pasta pots etc.
