About Wadmalaw Wild Ties

Wadmalaw Wild Ties was started by accident. On March 30, 2014, my daughter Hannah got her first turkey. It was a cold, grey, misty Sunday morning. Wanting something special for our

favorite person, “B” (man-friend, “dad” and turkey caller), I inquired into having a tie made for him, and could not find anything suitable. The following Sunday morning, we faced tragedy.

Another cold, grey, misty Sunday morning, and my older daughter, Hannah’s older sister, Madi, was in a fatal car accident. We were devastated.

Long story short, and many other tragedies in our community later, and needing something to do with any extra moment of time, I started making ties… ugly at first, but over time they became

what they are today – stunning, unique and beautiful wearable art. Just a little over a year later and I’m publishing my first catalog. Exciting and terrifying for sure!

There’s a new initiative however; #tieononresponsibly. A bow tie is a “fun tie”, as you put your tie on, make sure you get home safe, and make sure your friends and loved ones get home safe.

It’s quite simple. Be responsible. Each tie comes with a simple reminder to do just this. The ties are each handcrafted by me on Wadmalaw Island, just off the coast of Charleston SC.

Everything is sourced locally whenever possible. Anything else is bought from small businesses or craftsmen where possible.

One of the most unique offerings of Wadmalaw Wild Ties, is the ability to make ties from your turkey, duck or other game bird feathers, deer skin and hide and recently alligator. Shoot me an e-mail at [email protected] to get specifics on having your trophy turned into some
