• MARITIME AWARDThe Department of Transport has identified and committed itself to awarding the most prestigious achievers in the Maritime Industry. The purpose of the Maritime Awards was to create an awareness of those persons and organizations that are upholding the Government’s National Policies such as Black Economic Empowerment, Employment Equity, Skills Development and in general making initiatives towards ensuring a better life for all South African’s. The intention of the Department of Transport was to celebrate such achievements at a forum where the Maritime Industry is able to witness and bear testimony to stakeholders and role players who are committed to Government’s objectives.

Chris Magagula “Chris” has on two consecutive years been awarded the prestigious Best Managed Maritime Business Enterprise Award for Black-owned Maritime Business on the 28th of October 2004 and again on the 28th October 2005 by the Minister of Transport. The South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA), in collaboration with key industry partners sponsored this black tie evening that took place. The New Comer award is to recognise an organisation that has successfully overcome barriers, often limiting new entrants, in the maritime Industry.
